A tubular multilayer film including at least two, biaxially stretched tubular layers each formed of a polypropylene resin, wherein the innermost layer contains spherical antiblocking agent particles having an average particle size of 0.2 to 5 .mu.m in an amount of 0.1 to 0.7% by weight, and the outermost layer is free of the spherical antiblocking agent particles is disclosed. The multilayer film may be prepared by biaxially stretching a multilayer tubular raw sheet having an innermost polypropylene layer containing spherical antiblocking agent particles and an outermost polypropylene layer free of such antiblocking agent particles.

A heat-shrinkable polypropylene film adapted to be printed with, particularly, a flexographic ink is disclosed, which comprises a single layer heat-shrinkable film of a polypropylene resin composition containing spherical silicone resin fine particles of 0.2 to 5 microns in average particle size in a content of 0.1 to 0.7% by weight or a multi-layer heat-shrinkable film wherein at least one of the surface layers is such a polypropylene resin composition, with at least one surface of the single layer film or one surface of the surface layer of the multi-layer film having been subjected to corona discharge treatment to such degree that wettability index of the treated surface becomes 36 to 42 dyn/cm.

A multi-ply, heat-shrinkable film has a surface layer for contact with a cooked or processed meat product which is formed of an ethylene-ethyl acrylate-maleic anhydride copolymer or a mixture of the ethylene-ethyl acrylate-maleic anhydride copolymer and a polyolefin, with the content of ethyl acrylate component in the surface layer being 2 to 20% by weight and the content of maleic anhydride component being 1 to 5% by weight. An item or object to be packaged is packaged in a thermally shrinkable film. The thermally shrinkable film and the package are useful for detecting a liquid leaking from the packed item or object, or entering into the package from the outside. This permits a visual inspection of the quality of the item or object packaged therein or of contamination by a foreign substance.

A heat shrinkable composite film comprises a core layer formed of (a) a straight chain, low density polyethylene having a density of 0.890-0.905 g/cm.sup.3 and a Vicat softening point of 60.degree.80.degree. C. and/or (b) a copolymer of propylene and one or more .alpha.-olefins with 2-8 carbon atoms having a Vicat softening point of 70.degree.110.degree. C., and two outer layers laminated over the opposite surfaces of the core layer and each formed of (c) a crystalline polypropylene resin having a melting point of 135.degree.150.degree. C., the core layer having a thickness of 30-80% of the total thickness of the outer layers and the core layer.

A heat shrinkable composite film comprises a core layer formed of (a) a straight chain, low density polyethylene having a density of 0.890-0.905 g/cm.sup.3 and a Vicat softening point of 60.degree.-80.degree. Chilled beef packaging film

The process for preparing a thermally shrinkable multilayer film composed of a polyamide resin layer as one surface layer and a sealant material layer as the other surface layer includes the step of causing the polyamide resin layer of the oriented laminate film to absorb water in the amount of 7.0% by weight or more before or during the thermal treatment. The laminate film is then dried so as to cause the polyamide resin layer to make the water content in the range form 2.5% by weight to 6.5% by weight while maintaining the oriented laminate film at temperatures of 90.degree. C. or lower after or during the thermal treatment. The thermally shrinkable multilayer film thus prepared is suitable for thermally shrinking packing foods such as roast meat or fresh cut meat.

Process for preparing a thermally shrinkable multilayer film

A heat-shrinkable, composite packaging film comprising (a) a core layer of saponified ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer; (b) a first polymeric outer wall bonded to one side of the core layer; and (c) a second, heat-sealable polymeric outer wall bonded to the other side of the core layer; said first and second outer walls each having a permeability to hot water having a temperature of 90.degree. C. of less than 600 g/m.sup.2 /hour. The film is suitable for packaging meat and other food products subjected to sterilization and heat-shrinking process in a hot water bath.
