Array antenna for receiving radio communication

A multi-layer array antenna having high frequency band microstrip antennas formed on a surface of a first dielectric substrate, comb-shaped low frequency band microstrip antennas formed on a surface of a second dielectric substrate which is disposed on the first dielectric substrate, and through-holes for supplying microwave power to the comb-shaped low frequency band microstrip antennas through the first and the second dielectric substrates.

Multi-layer array antenna

An antenna system for transmitting radio waves in the same direction as the direction of arrival of incoming radio waves. The arrival direction is detected by a fast Fourier transform processor. The transmitting direction is adjusted by phase-shifting radio waves from a feeder on the basis of the detected arrival direction. Further, signals in the system are transmitted through optical fibers in order to decrease the processing time.

Antenna system

A radiowave receiving array antenna includes a lower grounding conductor, an upper grounding conductor, and supporting plates for supporting a feeder circuit board therebetween. Radiation elements and low noise amplifiers are mounted on the same plane of an insulating film of the feeder circuit board. The number of radiation elements is reduced, but the quality of the signal is not deteriorated.

A method of and an apparatus for measuring the null angle in the difference vs. sum pattern and in the difference pattern of a monopulse antenna. The null angle of the monopulse antenna in the radiation pattern is acquired by transmitting an RF signal from a plurality of antenna elements to the monopulse antenna, acquiring the sum signal and difference signals in the directions of the respective antenna elements and acquiring the null angle in accordance with the sum and difference signals. The apparatus comprises a rotator for changing the direction of the monopulse antenna and a transmitting antenna facing the monopulse antenna for transmitting a test signal to the monopulse antenna.

An antenna control data transfer system having antenna elements, phase shifters changing the phase of electromagnetic waves transmitted or received by the antenna elements, and phase shifter control circuits controlling the phase shifters, wherein each of the phase shifter control circuits includes an address holding circuit storing an address for identifying the phase shifter control circuit, a data input circuit for receiving data, and a data output control circuit for selectively outputting the received data or inhibiting the data output in accordance with a control signal from a signal processor.

Control data transfer system for phase shifters in antenna

A phased array antenna includes a plurality of first antenna elements and a plurality of phase shifters respectively connected to the first antenna elements. An amplitude and a phase of each of the antenna elements are determined by a method of opposing a pick-up antenna at a distance from the phased array antenna to measure a composite power of the phased array antenna while changing phases of the phase shifters for determining the ratio of the maximum power to the minimum power, and the phase value for the maximum power, from which the amplitude and phase are computed. A second antenna element is incorporated in the phased array antenna as a pick-up antenna to measure with mutual coupling an amplitude and a phase of each antenna element by the method and to determine differences in amplitude and phase between the opposed pick-up antenna and the second antenna element so that an amplitude and a phase subsequently measured with the second antenna element are corrected with the differences in amplitude and phase to determine an amplitude and a phase of each antenna element.

A phase shift data transfer system for phased array antenna apparatuses having a plurality of antenna elements arranged in rows and columns in an X-Y plane. A phase shifter is connected to each of the antenna elements. In order to form a beam radiating in a desired direction, an amount of phase shift is set in each phase shifter as the sum of a first component and a second component specified by an x coordinate and a y coordinate representative of the location of the antenna element to which the phase shifter is connected. A computing means computes a first component for every x coordinate and a second component for every y coordinate. The first component thus computed is transferred to the phase shifters corresponding to the x coordinate specifying the first component. The second component thus computed is transferred to the phase shifters corresponding to the y coordinate specifying the second component. Each phase shifter adds the first and second components thus transferred and sets the sum in the phase shifter.

Phase shift data transfer system for phased array antenna apparatuses

A conformal array antenna system is disclosed comprising a structural base body having a shape suitable for a surface of an airplane or a ship, and a plurality of antenna units disposed on the structural base body. Signals received by these antenna units are converted into digital signals and fed to a digital beam forming circuit which synthesizes such digital signals to form a multiplicity of beams. The antenna units and the digital beam forming circuits may be connected by electrical transmission lines or optical fibers.

Antenna device for detecting a direction of an object lying in a low angle direction, which is constructed with a plurality of antenna elements, feeds, and so forth, and comprises a central feed for feeding RF signals to one or a plurality of central antenna elements, and a peripheral feed for feeding RF signals to a plurality of peripheral antenna elements, and that one of input terminals of the central feed and one of input terminals of the peripheral feed are connected together by a hybrid circuit.
