A pair of dies are provided of which die faces are formed with depressions sequentially brought into engagement with a particular portion of a workpiece as the workpiece rolls between the die faces. By compressing the workpiece while driving the same to roll between the die faces, an excess metal of the workpiece is caused to flow into the depressions sequentially for thereby forming an asymmetrical part of the article.

Method of forming asymmetrical articles by rolling

The present invention relates to an apparatus for treating a solution or a slurry solution and its improved types. The apparatus of the present invention comprises a hollow rotating shaft having a sealing mechanism and a rotating mechanism at upper portions thereof, the apparatus being characterized by comprising a plurality of stirring branch pipes attached to the lower end of the hollow rotating shaft vertically downward extending into the solution in a storage tank, and a plurality of gas jet pipes disposed under the respective branch pipes, the gas jet pipes extending vertically downward and being opened at the lower ends thereof, whereby the shaft and the stirring branch pipes are rotated, while a gas is jetted from openings of the gas jet pipes through the sealing mechanism, the hollow rotating shaft and the branch pipes. The improved types of the above mentioned apparatus include an apparatus in which a plurality of stirring blades are additionally provided under the branch pipes, an apparatus in which a wash water feed pipe is additionally provided in the hollow rotating shaft, and the like.

A drum type shear includes a pair of rotatable drums, each drum including a shearing blade. The circumferential velocity of the outer edge of a first blade is greater than the circumferential velocity of the outer edge of a second blade, such that upon rotation of the drums with a workpiece passing therebetween, after the workpiece has been initially bitten between the blades, shearing of the workpiece is completed while the outer edge of the first blade overtakes the outer edge of the second blade.

Improved roll-forming dies in a cross-rolling machine are described herein, which enable a shaped surface having any arbitrary inclination angle to be self-generated when a shaft portion of a stepped cylindrical article having a large diameter-reduction factor is formed by rolling. The improved dies are distinguished from the conventional ones in that a height of a die top portion contacting with a raw material rod with respect to a reference surface of said die is successively and continuously increased in the direction of advance of the die from a start point of a depression spreading portion of the die or its proximity up to a start point of a finishing portion or its proximity, and also in that a width of a shaping inclined surface of the roll-forming die is gradually reduced in the direction of the advance of said die from the start point of the depression spreading portion of said die or its proximity up to the start point of the finishing portion or its proximity.
