A sliding member includes a substrate, a porous layer provided on the surface of the substrate and a sliding layer with which the porous layer is impregnated and coated. The sliding layer contains polybenzimidazole, 1&#x2013;70 vol % of a solid lubricant and 0.1&#x2013;10 vol % of hard particles.

A plain bearing comprising a backing alloy made of copper alloy or aluminum alloy, a coat layer of synthetic resin formed on the surface of a backing alloy, and a thin film of polytetrafluoroethylene formed on the surface of the coat layer has a lower coefficient friction, improved conformability and distinguished sliding characteristics.

Plain bearing and process for producing the same

A sliding bearing includes a bearing alloy layer having a sliding surface and a resin surface layer formed on the sliding surface of the bearing alloy layer and containing polybenzimidazole and a solid lubricant. In manufacturing the sliding bearing, a resin surface layer composition is applied to a roughened surface of a bearing alloy layer. The resin surface layer composition contains polybenzimidazole and a solid lubricant. The resin surface layer composition is heated so as to be hardened to be formed into a resin surface layer.

Sliding bearing and method of manufacturing the same

Bushcomprises back metal layermade from a steel plate and porous sintered metal layermade from copper, provided on the surface of back metal layerthrough copper plating layerand impregnated and coated with sliding materialwithin and on the surface of porous sintered metal layer, where sliding materialcomprises PTFE as the main component (not less than 50 vol. % of the entire material), 3-40 vol. % of Bi particles and/or Bi alloy particles, 1-40 vol. % of injection moldable fluororesin such as PFA, etc., 0.1-20 vol. % of hard particles such a W, AlO, etc., and 0.1-20 vol. % of a solid lubricant such as graphite, etc. The sliding material based on PTFE as the main component is free from lead and can further improve the wear resistance, while maintaining good sliding characteristics.

Sliding material

There is provided a method of working a plain bearing and a working apparatus of the plain bearing, which make it easy to perform working by forming a plurality of inclined surfaces of different angles in portions on both sides of the inner peripheral surface of the bearing alloy metal of the plain bearing in the axial direction thereof. In the working method and apparatus, a working holder is provided which has a groove extending on the inner peripheral surface in the peripheral direction and portions on both sides of the groove in the transverse direction formed in step-like shape, a half bearing is housed in the working holder and both ends of the half bearing in the peripheral direction are pressed by use of pressing means Then, the half bearing undergoes plastic deformation so as to be fitted into the groove and both sides of the half bearing in the axial direction thereof come into abutment with the edges of the step-like portions and are deformed in a polygonal line form. In this state, both ends of the half bearing in the axial direction thereof are cut along one cylindrical surface by use of a broach As a result, two inclined surfaces of different angles are continuously formed in the portions of both sides of the bearing alloy metal of the half bearing in the axial direction thereof.

Method and apparatus of working plain bearing

There is disclosed a plain bearing comprising: a back metal; and a bearing alloy layer bonded onto the back metal which bearing alloy layer is provided at a surface side thereof with a cylindrical bearing face extended in the direction of the axis of the plain bearing, the bearing alloy face being provided at each of axial terminal portions thereof with an inclination face inclined radially outwardly from a location defined between both of axially terminal ends of said bearing face toward said axially terminal ends thereof, the inclination face having an axial length varying along the circumference of the inclination face.

Plain bearing

Bush is fabricated by providing porous sintered metal layer of copper on the surface side of back metal layer of steel plate through copper plating layer and coating the inside and the surface of porous sintered metal layer with sliding material by impregnation. Sliding material comprises 1-25 vol.% of tetrafluoroethylene-perfluoroalkylvinyl ether copolymer resin, 1-25 vol.% of at least one member selected from the group consisting of oxybenzoylpolyester resin and polyimide resin and 0.1-10 vol.% of hard particles having a Mohs hardness of 4 or more and average particle sizes of 5 &mgr;m or less such as Al O and SiC, the balance being polytetrafluoroethylene resin (55 vol.% or more of the total siding material) as the main component. 0.5-25 vol.% of a solid lubricant such as graphite and MoS can be further contained in total together with the hard particles. The sliding material containing polytetrafluoroethylene resin as the main component has an improved fretting wear resistance particularly when used as a bearing material.

Composite sliding material

Disclosed is a composite sliding material consisting of a back metal, a porous alloy layer which is formed on the surface of the back metal by sintering a copper alloy powder, and a resin layer which is formed so as to impregnate into and cover the porous alloy layer. The alloy layer consists of sintered copper alloy particles and has a thickness of superimposed plural particles. The copper alloy powder has an average particle size of 25 to 100 &mgr;m so that the composite sliding material has smallersliding-contact resistance.

In order to obtain a sliding material which does not include lead particles and is harmless to the environment, there is provided a sliding material which includes, by volume, 3 to 40% bismuth particles but no lead particles, while having a low coefficient of friction and excellent wear resistance.

In a sliding bearing in which a bearing metal layer is covered with a coating layer, the coating layer comprises a thermosetting resin as a base resin and soft metal particles dispersed in the base resin in an amount of 0.1 to 10% by volume based on the volume of the coating layer. The soft metal is harder than the base resin and has a higher thermal conductivity than the base resin, so that the wear resistance and anti-seizure property of the sliding bearing are improved. In particular, when the soft metal particles are of copper, silver, tin, zinc or the like, the soft metal particles react with the sulfur contained in a lubricating oil to form a thin metal sulfide film excellent in lubricity on the surface of the particles, whereby the coefficient of friction is made smaller.

Sliding bearing

Disclosed is a sliding bearing in which a heat emission property of the sliding bearing is improved without affecting the original function of an overlay layer. An overlay layer is formed on a higher load-side bearing half, and extends circumferentially from a central portion thereof toward each of opposite ends thereof. Any overlay layer is not formed on a lower load-side bearing half, so that a bearing alloy remains exposed to the surface of this bearing half.

A bearing structure with a low coefficient of friction and a distinguished wear resistance is obtained by coating a shaft with a resin composition comprising PAI and 5 to 50% by weight of PTFE, based on total resin composition and/or coating a bearing with a resin composition comprising PEEK and not more than 50% by weight of PTFE, based on total resin composition. By adding potassium titanate whiskers or a lead compound to the bearing resin composition, more improved coefficient of friction and wear resistance are obtained.

Bearing structure

Disclosed is a bearing structure of a sliding bearing which is held in a housing and which rotatably supports a rotary shaft. At least one of the outer surface of the sliding bearing and the inner surface of the housing is covered with a coating layer which essentially consists of, by weight, a total amount of not more than 90% of solid lubricant and hard particles in which the solid lubricant is of 3 to 50% and the hard particles are of 1 to 50%, and the balance of polyamideimide resin.

A sliding member obtained by molding a resin composition comprising an aromatic polyamide fiber, a polytetrafluoroethylene, a lead oxide and at least one other heat resistant synthetic resin, the aromatic polyamide fiber being in a proportion of 10 to 30% by volume based on the total volume of the aromatic polyamide fiber, the polytetrafluoroethylene, the lead oxide and the other heat resistant synthetic resin, the polytetrafluoroethylene being in a proportion of 5 to 20% by volume based on the total volume, and the lead oxide being in a proportion of 0.1 to less than 5% by volume based on the total volume, and provided that the total of the aromatic polyamide fiber, the polytetrafluoroethylene, the lead oxide and the other heat resistant synthetic resin equals to 100% by volume.

A sealing material for a scroll-type compressor consists essentially of, by weight, more than 20 and up to 40% PAN-system carbon fiber, 1 to 15% polytetrafluoroethylene resin, and the balance of polyphenylene sulfide resin. Further, not more than 10% hard particles formed of a copper alloy are added to the foregoing components. Thus, there can be provided a sealing material which can be applied to scroll members of a high surface hardness which have undergone Tufram process or Ni-P plating.
