An oil composition contains 100 parts by weight of a base oil selected from the group consisting of mineral base oil, synthetic base oil and mixtures thereof, and 0.1 to 20 parts by weight of a hydrogenated oil obtained by hydrogenating an oil selected from the group consisting of coal type tar, oil produced by fractionating coal type tar, a hydrocarbon obtained by thermally cracking petroleum and having a boiling point of not lower than 200.degree. C., a hydrocarbon obtained by catalytically cracking petroleum and having a boiling point of not lower than 200.degree. C., a hydrocarbon obtained by catalytically reforming petroleum and having a boiling point of not lower than 200.degree. C., and mixtures thereof, whereby the hydrogenated oil has the hydrogen-donating properties of not lower than three times the hydrogen-donating properties of the base oil at temperatures of not lower than 350.degree. C.

Oil composition containing hydrogenated oil

Novel halogenated naphthalene derivatives of the formula ##STR1## where X is F or Br, and a process for making the same are disclosed. Insulating oils are also disclosed which essentially comprise such a fluorine-containing compound and commonly used hydrocarbon insulating oils. The additive is highly conductive to improved dielectric constant, dielectric loss, hydrogen gas absorptivity, fluidity and viscosity characteristics.

Halogenated naphthalene derivatives

A lubricating oil composition which comprises (I) a base oil selected from mineral oils having an aromatic content of not higher than 30 wt %, synthetic oils which are free of aromatic rings in the structural units, and mixtures thereof, and (II) 0.01 to 5.0 wt %, based on the total composition, of N-p-branched alkylphenyl-alphanaphthylamine which has an alkyl moiety having 12 or 15 carbon atoms and which is derived from a propylene oligomer.

The present invention is directed to a method for surface treatment characterized by making use of a surface treating agent, for a powdery and granular material stored in the open air, containing 0.5 to 50% by weight of a solid content as an essential component and a residue which is water, said solid content comprising (I) 100 parts by weight of a petroleum wax component selected from the group consisting of slack waxes containing 1% by weight or more of an oil content, slack microcrystalline waxes including 1% by weight or more of an oil content, paraffin waxes, microcrystalline waxes and their mixtures and (II) 5 to 500 parts by weight of a polymer component having adhesive properties and the lowest film-forming temperature of 40.degree. C. or less.

A wax emulsion is disclosed which upon application to a material forms a film capable of keeping the material water-proof or otherwise protective against ambient influences. The quality of the wax emulsion is improved by the combination of a hydrocarbon wax with a liquid polybutadiene a polybutene or a polyisobutylene.

Wax emulsion

A fluorescent lamp device including an outer tube containing a fluorescent lamp therein, a connection tube connected to one end of the outer tube, a cap containing a glow starter and a condenser connected to the other end of the outer tube, and a base member connected to the connection tube. The base member contains a ballast member including a thermistor and a thermal adjustment member having a plurality of radiation fins, which are connected electrically and thermally through a conductive plate.

Aqueous composition for the protection of paint surfaces

A fluorescent lamp device formed of an outer tube containing a fluorescent lamp therein, a connection tube connected to one end of the outer tube, a cap containing a glow starter and a condenser therein connected to the other end of the outer tube, and a base member connected to the connection tube. The base member contains a ballast member mainly formed of a thermistor and a thermal adjustment member having an integrally formed contacting member for making electrical connection with a base pin of the fluorescent lamp. The thermal adjustment member and the thermistor are in direct electrical and mechanical engagement such that the thermal adjustment member conducts heat from the thermistor to the thermal adjustment member.

A wax emulsion is provided which comprises as essential ingredients (A) 100 parts by weight of a petroleum fraction wax having a melting point ranging within 40.degree. to 90.degree. C.; and (B) 3 to 20 parts by weight of an oxygen containing wax; said oxygen-containing wax being prepared by mixing 10 to 80 parts by weight of a petroleum fraction wax (I) having a melting point ranging within 50.degree. to 85.degree. C. with 90 to 20 parts by weight of a polyolefin wax (II) having a melting point ranging within 36.degree. to 120.degree. An ink composition for carbon paper comprising a base oil, wax, carbon black, a dyestuff and filler, characterized by the fact that the wax contains a new wax prepared by reacting a specific polyolefin wax with an unsaturated polycarboxylic acid or the like to produce a reaction mixture, removing the unreacted acid or the like therefrom to obtain a modified wax, and then reacting the modified wax with a compound of a metal of Group II of the Periodic Table to convert the acidic groups of the modified wax to a salt of the Group II metal thereby obtaining the new wax.

A process for preparing an oxygen-containing wax obtained by reacting a mixture of saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbon waxes with an unsaturated polycarboxylic acid thereby to prepare the oxygen-containing wax. In one embodiment, this invention relates to the oxygen-containing waxes so prepared.

A process for the preparation of a modified polyolefin wax having improved hardness and gloss, which comprises reacting a waxy polyolefin with maleic anhydride to produce a maleinised polyolefin wax, reacting at 100.degree. - 180.degree. C the thus-produced maleinised wax with water in an amount of 2 - 80 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the maleic anhydride reacted with the waxy polyolefin and, if desired, distilling off from the reaction system an excess of the water remaining therein after the end of the hydrolytic reaction, at a temperature of 100.degree. - 180.degree. C under atmospheric or a reduced pressure.
