A lenticular lens medium forms a lenticular lens which includes a plurality of semicylindrical-shaped or arc-shaped elongated convex parts. The lenticular lens medium has a volume resistivity of 1&#xd7;10-1&#xd7;10&#x3a9;&#xb7;cm and a surface resistivity of 1&#xd7;10-1&#xd7;10&#x3a9;/&#x25a1;.

Lenticular lens medium

A lenticular lens medium forms a lenticular lens which comprises a plurality of semicylindrical-shaped or arc-shaped elongated convex parts. The lenticular lens medium has a volume resistivity of 1&#xd7;10-1&#xd7;10&#x3a9;&#xb7;cm and a surface resistivity of 1&#xd7;10-1&#xd7;10&#x3a9;/&#x25a1;. The lenticular lens medium including the convex parts has a thickness of 0.3-3 mm.

An image forming apparatus receives halftone print data through an inputting section. A dot forming section irradiates the charged surface of an image bearing body with light to form a plurality of lines of dots in accordance with the halftone data. Dots on a same line have the same exposure energy and dots on different lines in a same pixel have different exposure energies. The plurality of lines may include as many lines as there are bits in the halftone print data. The plurality of lines may include a first predetermined number of lines and the halftone print data includes a second predetermined number of bits different from the first predetermined number. A conversion table converts halftone print data having a first number of bits into corresponding energy data having a second number of bits.

Bitmapped graphics, font and vector form figure are transformed to gradation value respectively by zooming means (), font representing means () and vector representing means (). They are inputted to figure conserving gradation pixel data generating means (), where average gradation value of plural gradation values is made and each of bits is given to each of plural gradation values. These bits represent the figure of graphics. So, they are called figure bits or figure data. With appending these figure bits to the average gradation value, generated is a figure conserving gradation pixel data which represents a pixel with high resolution.

Bit data of a received video signal is partially converted into a first signal representing a data sequence corresponding to the resolution of an LED head. The first signal is transmitted to the LED head in the form of a real printing data signal that is to be printed on a basic raster line in synchronism with a line timing signal. The remaining bit data of the received video signal, which are not converted into the first signal, are converted into a second signal representing another data sequence, and then stored in a line buffer. The second signal stored in the line buffer is transmitted to the LED head in the form of a real printing data signal that is to be printed on an additional raster line in synchronism with an additional line timing signal. The LED head drive energy with which the basic raster lines are printed and another LED head drive energy with which the additional raster lines are printed are set independently of each other. The LED head may be provided with such a resolution function.

Printer having circuit for providing improved printing quality

A printer includes LED heads and head controllers. Each head controller transfers items of data to a corresponding head over a set of common buses. The LED head has a receiver activated by a corresponding head selecting signal. In one configuration, the common buses may include a selector bus over a data bus. Image data and a group of signals are alternately transferred over the data bus, the group of signals including a latch signal for latching the image data into a corresponding head and a strobe signal for driving a corresponding head in accordance with the image data. The selector signal allows the receiver to direct the image data and the group of signals into separate data paths. In another configuration, the control signals may further include an image clock and a control clock. The common buses may include an image clock bus, a control clock bus, and a data bus over which the image data and the group of signals are alternately transferred, the image data being attended by the image clock and the group of signals being attended by the control clock. In still another configuration, the image data may include a train of image data in which first image data and second image data appear alternately. One receiver receives the first image data on the rising edges of the image clock and another receiver receives the second image data on the falling edges.

Printer

An electrophotographic printer has a print head that illuminates a photoconductor to form an electrostatic latent image. The print head has light-emitting elements. Each corresponding to a pixel of the image and emitting light when driven. Drive circuits are provided for driving the light-emitting elements. Each drive circuit drives a corresponding one of the light-emitting elements in accordance with a value of the pixel. A controller controls the drive circuits to start driving corresponding light-emitting elements in a predetermined order.

Electrophotographic printer

A data transfer system includes a host which provides a timing signal and data at an output, and a peripheral device which receives the timing signal and data from the host output, and produces an internal timing signal based on detection of a change in either the data or the polarity of the timing signal provided by the host.

The LED head includes a resolution conversion circuit which converts the video data into the first signal and the second signal. The signals are stored in a shift register having a plurality of line buffers. The first signal is printed on a basic raster line and the second signal is printed on an additional raster line. An LED head drive energy with which basic raster lines are printed and another LED head drive energy with which additional raster lines are printed are set independently of each other.

Printer which prints with a resolution exceeding led head resolution

In a method for inputting, into a printer memory, printing initiation positions for a standard preformed paper, a touch panel is superimposed upon a sheet of the standard preformed paper which has a printing format already printed on the paper. Coordinate data of printing initiation positions of the desired printing format are entered through contact with the touch panel by a touch pen. The touch panel produces input coordinate data which are input into the printer as printing format data.
