The invention provides a nitrogenous gas sustained releasing agent that is capable of sustainably releasing off nitrogenous gases in the air at normal temperature and safe to handle and a nitrogenous gas sustained releaser composed of the same as well as a nitrogenous gas sustained releasing method, respiratory equipment, a package and a nitrogenous gas sustained releasing apparatus using said sustained releaser. The nitrogenous gas sustained releasing agent contains a layered double hydroxide having nitrite ions (NO) and/or nitrate ions (NO) included between layers. The nitrogenous gas sustained releaser composed of the sustained releasing agent is exposed to a gas containing carbon dioxide and water vapor to induce any one or more processes of sustained release of nitrous acid, self-decomposition of nitrous acid, oxidization/reduction of nitrous acid, and reduction of nitrite ions/nitrate ions thereby sustainably releasing off nitrogenous gases.

The invention provides a constituent that is used with a novel method for preventing and/or treating skin wounds and ensures stable delivery of low-concentration hydrogen sulfide to a wound site. The skin wound-preventing and/or treating constituent includes a sustained hydrogen sulfide releasing agent that is preferably a layered double hydroxide having HS— and/or Sk2- between layers where k is a positive integer.

Constituent for preventing and/or treating skin wounds

To provide an inorganic solid material that has a hydrogen sulfide sustained releasability at ordinary temperature in the air atmosphere and is capable of being handled safely and a method for producing the same, and a method for generating hydrogen sulfide using the material. A layered double hydroxide having HS− and/or Sk2− (wherein k represents a positive integer) intercalated among layers (sulfide ion-containing LDH) is produced, and the sulfide ion-containing LDH is hermetically housed in a packaging material to provide a package. In generating hydrogen sulfide, the packaging material of the package is opened, and the sulfide ion-containing LDH is exposed to the air atmosphere to sustainably release hydrogen sulfide.

The invention has for its object to provide a preparation method for preparing an anion-exchangeable LDH by decarbonation of a carbonate ion type LDH, which makes sure de carbonation is implemented with safety in a continuous manner while crystal shape, crystal structure and crystallinity are kept intact. The invention provides a preparation method for preparing an anion-exchangeable, layered double hydroxide wherein a carbonate ion type layered double hydroxide (LDH) having a composition represented by a general formula: QR(OH)(CO)(X).nHO where x is indicative of a numeral range of 1.8&#x2266;x&#x2266;4.2; z is indicative of 2(x+1); y is indicative of a minimum value of at least 0 that increases to less than 1 when anions (X) remain or a part of anions is introduced; Q is a divalent metal ion; R is a trivalent metal ion; and n is 2&#xb1;2 is used as a starting material, and y in said general formula increases to a maximum of 1 by substitution of a minus monovalent anion (X) at a carbonate ion site thereby implementing substitution, characterized in that the starting material is dispersed in an aqueous solution mixed with a salt containing minus monovalent anions (X) in an amount enough for substitution at the carbonate ion site while said aqueous solution is kept at a pH (hydrogen ion exponent) of greater than 4 to less than 7.

Preparation method for anion-exchangeable, layered double hydroxides

When titanium oxide is doped with nitrogen, the resulting titanium oxide photocatalyst can be driven with visible light, which is a main component of sunlight. However, in a known process, since a high-temperature heat treatment process necessary for nitrogen doping degrades the photocatalytic activity inherent in titanium oxide, it is difficult to produce a titanium oxide photocatalyst that can be driven with a high efficiency under sunlight. A titania/organic substance composite, which includes an organic ligand coordinated to flaky titania and forms a layered structure, is immersed in aqueous ammonia to substitute the organic ligand between layers with a hydroxyl group by a ligand exchange reaction, and at the same time, to introduce ammonium into between layers of the titania having the layered structure. The resulting composite of titania and ammonium is heated at a temperature of 400&#xb0; C. or higher and in such a temperature range that does not cause rutile transition, whereby nitrogen is doped into the titania by thermal decomposition of the ammonium and, in addition, titania is crystallized to an anatase form.
