A rotating electric machine includes a rotor, a stator, a housing, a plurality of control modules and a joining member. The stator includes a stator coil. The housing accommodates both the rotor and the stator therein. The control modules are capable of supplying multi-phase alternating current to the stator coil and rectifying multi-phase alternating current generated in the stator coil into direct current. The control modules include a first control module and a second control module that are arranged adjacent to each other. The first and second control modules are joined, by the joining member, to be in surface contact with each other.

Rotating electric machine

A rotating electric machine includes a rotating shaft, a rotor, a stator, a housing, control modules and fixing members. The housing, which is grounded, rotatably supports the rotating shaft and accommodates the rotor and the stator. The control modules are arranged around the rotating shaft and adjacent to one another. Each of the control modules includes switching elements, a supporting part that supports the switching elements, and at least one connection part having a ground terminal formed therein. The fixing members are provided to fix the connection parts of the control modules to the housing. Each adjacent pair of the connection parts respectively belonging to two different ones of the control modules are together fixed to the housing by a corresponding one of the fixing members; the ground terminals formed in the adjacent pair of the connection parts are together electrically connected to the housing.

In a power converter, outer lead frames are drawn out from a semiconductor module and are bent to be separated from a cooler. Each of the outer leads has a terminal end. The terminal end of each outer lead frame projects from a virtual plane extending along a second surface of a housing. Connector leads each includes an inner portion disposed in the housing, and an outer portion drawn out from the housing and bent to be separated from the cooler. The outer portion of each connector lead has a terminal end. The terminal end of the outer portion of each connector lead projects from the virtual plane.

Power converter and rotary electric machine

An automotive alternator is disclosed which includes an annular core disposed to surround the radially outer peripheries of all magnetic pole claws of magnetic pole cores. The annular core has, on an outer surface thereof, a plurality of protrusions, a plurality of recesses, and a plurality of slopes. Each of the protrusions is so provided as to be coincident with a corresponding one of the magnetic pole claws of the magnetic pole cores in the circumferential direction of a rotary shaft. Each of the recesses is alternately formed with the protrusions so as to be coincident with a corresponding one of air gaps formed between the magnetic pole claws of the magnetic pole cores in the circumferential direction. Each of the slopes is inclined to the radial direction of the rotary shaft and connects a circumferentially adjacent pair of one of the protrusions and one of the recesses.

An alternator for a vehicle has a rotor with a field wiring, a stator with a three-phase stator wiring, a regulator, and a rectifier. The regulator and rectifier are disposed away from each other with the rotor between. An alternating current is generated in the stator wiring in response to a rotation of the rotor and a field current received in the field wiring. The rectifier converts the alternating current into a direct current and outputs the direct current as an electrical energy generated in the alternator. The regulator regulates a value of the filed current to control the electrical energy. The rectifier acts as a heat generating member, but heat generated in the rectifier is hardly transmitted to the regulator disposed away from the rectifier.
