A structure in which a plurality of leads are formed on a base film that are respectively connected to a plurality of terminal portions of a recording head of an ink jet printer by brazing has slits formed among the plurality of leads at this juncture so that gases generated in brazing are discharged from the slits thereby preventing brazing failure due to scattering of molten solder. Further, a slit maybe formed along a center axis of each of the plurality of leads at the juncture so the molten solder flows into the slits. As a result, the connection strength is improved by fillets formed at both sides of the slits. Further, the gases generated in brazing are also evacuated from the open ends of the slits thereby further minimizing brazing failures.

End portion structure for connecting leads of flexible printed circuit

The distance A between opposite end nozzles 4e and 4e on the nozzle plate 4 is set smaller than the distance B between opposite end link channels 3e and 3e in the actuator. The difference between the distances A and B is determined dependent on the difference between the thermal expansion coefficients of the actuator and of the nozzle plate. After being heated, the nozzles will be properly located in correspondence with the ink channels. During the heating step, the nozzle plate is placed on the actuator via an adhesive. Then, the heater block is placed on the nozzle plate to heat the adhesive via the nozzle plate and to press the nozzle plate from upwardly. Accordingly, the temperature of the adhesive rapidly increases, whereby gas is completely discharged from the adhesive before the adhesive is completely hardened.

Method of attaching nozzle plate to ink jet actuator

Connection electrodes provided on the surface of a base film of a flexible substrate are pressed into contact with opposing electrodes provided on the surface of a facing rigid substrate. Backup members press the base film from the rear of each connection electrode. Each of the backup members has a cylindrical base portion and a conical tip portion which contacts a concave surface of the base film at the rear of each connection electrode. The conical tip portions are formed of an inelastic resin which does not deform elastically even if subjected to pressure and the cylindrical base portions are formed of an elastic resin which has a springiness. The cylindrical base portions apply a spring force to the base film when compressed so that the connection electrodes and the opposing electrodes form good electrical connections.

Connection electrode connecting device

A cam follower of a cam follower member of a print head is inserted into a aperture of a carriage. Next the print head is rotated clockwise 90.degree. in relationship to the carriage on the axis of the shaft. The cam follower is brought into engagement with cams provided to the interior of the aperture by rotation of the print head. As the cam follower follows the cams with rotation of the print head, the print head is pulled closer to the carriage. A plurality of contact electrodes provided to the print head are rubbingly brought into contact with corresponding counter electrodes provided to the carriage when the print head is rotated 90.degree.. An air chamber can be provided under the contact electrodes for evenly distributing between all the contact electrodes and the counter electrodes pressure applied therebetween.

Contact electrode connector

An image recording apparatus having a lens unit and a mirror unit. The lens unit and the mirror unit are movably supported by a frame of the apparatus. A cam plate is provided at the lens unit, and a lever is in abutment with the cam plate. When the lens unit is moved in a direction, the cam plate is also moved, so that the lever is pivotally moved. The lever is abutted on the mirror unit. The pivotal motion of the lever, the mirror unit is also moved in another direction. The cam plate has a plurality of cam surfaces each defining respective copying magnifications.

Image recording apparatus having image magnification control means

An image recording apparatus for recording an image corresponding to an original on a photosensitive recording medium by irradiating light onto the original and converging light from the original onto the photosensitive recording medium. The apparatus includes a lens unit vertically movably supported by the frame, a plurality of position setting holes arrayed in a vertical direction of the frame, position setting means provided on the lens unit and capable of being inserted into one of the position setting holes for fixing the lens unit to the frame, urging means provided on the lens unit for urging the position setting means toward the frame to project the position setting means, actuating means provided on the lens unit for actuating the position setting means so that the position setting means retracts and moves away from the frame against urging force of the urging means when electric current is supplied to the actuating means. The apparatus further includes control means for controlling the actuating means so that when an error is detected during movement of the lens unit, electric current to the actuating means is cut off to project the position setting means by the urging force of the urging means and to fix the lens unit to the frame.
