A liquid crystal panel according to one embodiment includes a first substrate, a second substrate opposed to the first substrate, a sealing member bonding the first substrate and the second substrate, and a liquid crystal layer sealed between the first substrate and the second substrate by the sealing member. The sealing member includes a ten-hour half-life temperature of 95&#xb0; C. or lower and an acrylic resin. The liquid crystal layer includes a macromolecular compound.

Liquid crystal panel and electro-optical device

According to one embodiment, a display device comprises first and second substrates and a liquid crystal layer. The second substrate has first and second surfaces and a side surface elongated in a first direction. The side surface includes first and second inclined surfaces on which end portions on the first surface side further protrude in a second direction intersecting the first direction than end portions on the second surface side. The first inclined surface is inclined at a first angle to a thickness direction of the second substrate. The second inclined surface is inclined at a second angle smaller than the first angle to the thickness direction.

Liquid crystal display device

According to one embodiment, an electro-optic device includes an electro-optic panel including a transparent base, a sealing portion provided in a peripheral area of the transparent base, a liquid crystal composition sealed by the transparent base and the sealing portion, an injection port for the liquid crystal composition provided in the peripheral area of the transparent base, and a light source arranged opposed to a side surface of the transparent base. The transparent base has a first side and a second side on an opposite side to the first side, the light source is opposed to the first side, and the injection port is opposed to the second side.

Electro-optic device

According to one embodiment, a display device includes a first substrate including a first insulating substrate located in a first area and a second area, and a first conductive layer provided in the second area, a second substrate including a second insulating substrate located in the first area, and a second conductive layer, and a first connection line opposed to a first side surface of the second insulating substrate to electrically connect the first conductive layer and the second conductive layer. The first connection line is formed of a photosensitive resin containing a conductive material.

Display device

A liquid crystal display includes a first substrate and a second substrate bonded to each other at their periphery by a sealant, with liquid crystal sealed between the first substrate and a second substrate, and has a display region. The first substrate is formed, between the sealant and an end portion of the display region, with a wall that partitions the liquid crystal into a portion on the display region side and a portion on the sealant side. A gap exists between the tip of the wall and the second substrate side. In the liquid crystal display device, a liquid crystal portion that has been contaminated is restrained from moving into the display region.

According to one embodiment, a display device includes a first substrate including a display area and a terminal area, a second substrate opposed to the display area, a first sealing member formed between the first and second substrate and surrounding the display area, a second sealing member formed between the first sealing member and a first edge of the second substrate located at the terminal area side, and a first spacer formed between the first and second sealing member and formed at least in contact with the second sealing member. The first spacer includes a first side surface at the second sealing member side and a second side surface at the first sealing member side, and the first side surface at least partly projects toward the first edge.

According to one embodiment, provide is a liquid crystal display device that suppresses potential change of a common electrode caused by potential change of a signal line. An electrode part is provided on an array substrate so as to surround a display region. A signal line is provided on the array substrate so as to be located in the display region. A passivation film is provided on the array substrate so as to cover at least the signal line and the electrode part. A one-side opening part is provided continuously along an edge part of the display region on the passivation film so that the electrode part is disposed. The common electrode is provided on the array substrate so that a part of the common electrode is located at the one-side opening part and another part of the common electrode is located facing the signal line on the passivation film.

In one embodiment, a liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate and a second substrate. In the first substrate, gate lines extend in a first direction, and a first source line and a second source line extend in a second direction orthogonally crossing the first direction. A pixel electrode having a first belt-like main electrode is arranged approximately in a central portion between the first source line and the second source line and extending in the second direction. A first belt-like sub-electrode covers the gate line between the first source line and the second source line and extending in the first direction. The second substrate includes a counter electrode having a second main electrode arranged on the first and second source lines and extending in the second direction. A liquid crystal layer is held between the first substrate and the second substrate.

In one embodiment, a first substrate includes a gate line extending in a first direction, a source line extending in a second direction orthogonally crossing the first direction, a pixel electrode including a main pixel electrode extending in the second direction, and a first alignment film covering the pixel electrode. A second substrate includes a common electrode having a pair of main common electrodes arranged on both sides sandwiching the main pixel electrode and a second alignment film covering the common electrode. A liquid crystal layer is held between the first alignment film and the second alignment film and includes liquid crystal molecules. The liquid crystal layer is formed of materials having negative dielectric constant anisotropy, and the liquid crystal molecules are initially aligned substantially in parallel with the first direction when electric field is not impressed between the pixel electrode and the common electrode.

In one embodiment, a first substrate is provided with first and second main pixel electrodes electrically connected each other extending along a first direction, respectively. A second substrate includes first to third main common electrodes electrically connected each other extending along the first direction, respectively. The first main pixel electrode is arranged between the first and second main common electrodes, and the second main pixel electrode is arranged between the second and third main common electrodes. Four inter-electrode distances are formed. One of the four inter-electrode distances is set to an optimal inter-electrode distance, and one of the four inter-electrode distances is different from at least one of the other three inter-electrode distances. Herein, the optimal inter-electrode distance is defined as follows: in a range of voltage which is applied between the electrodes, more than 90% of a peak transmissivity is obtained by the optimal inter-electrode distance.

According to one embodiment, a display device includes a first substrate unit, a second substrate unit, a display layer, and a sealing portion. The first substrate unit includes a first substrate, a display electrode, a terminal portion, and a first insulating layer. The first substrate has a first major surface. The first major surface has a display region and a peripheral region. The display electrode is provided in the display region. The terminal portion is provided in the peripheral region and electrically connected to the display electrode. The first insulating layer is provided on the display and peripheral regions. The second substrate unit faces the first major surface. The display layer is provided between the display electrode and the second substrate unit. The sealing portion is provided between the first and second substrate units. The sealing portion surrounds the display layer and contacts the first insulating layer.

In one embodiment, a liquid crystal display device comprises a pixel electrode including a first main electrode disposed between a first line and a second line and extending like a belt in a first extending direction. A first counter electrode includes a second main electrode extending like a belt in the first extending direction, a second counter electrode having a third main electrode extending like a belt in the first extending direction. The second and third main electrodes are disposed on both sides of the first main electrode, and an initial alignment direction of the liquid crystal molecules is parallel with a direction passing through an interstice between the first end side of the first main electrode and the second line, and through an interstice between the second end side of the first main electrode and the first line.

A liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate including a T-shaped pixel electrode including a strip-shaped first main electrode positioned midway between a first source line and a second source line, and a strip-shaped sub-electrode, a second substrate including a counter-electrode which includes a strip-shaped second main electrode positioned above the first source line and the second source line, and a liquid crystal layer, wherein when an inter-electrode distance between the first main electrode and the second main electrode is L and a cell gap is GP, a formed angle &#x398;, which is expressed by a relationship of tan &#x398;=GP/L, is greater than a pre-tilt angle &#x3b1; of a liquid crystal molecule.
