An electrophoresis display device includes an element substrate (first substrate); a counter substrate (second substrate) arranged facing the element substrate; an electrophoresis layer arranged between the element substrate and the counter substrate and which includes a dispersion liquid which contains electrophoretic particles and a dispersion medium in which the electrophoretic particles are dispersed; a dividing wall arranged to partition the electrophoresis layer into a plurality of cells; and a sealing layer arranged between the counter substrate and the dividing wall. The sealing layer has a modulus of elasticity at 25&#xb0; C. of 1 MPa or more to 100 MPa or less.

A liquid crystal device includes: a circuit substrate; a counter substrate disposed so as to be opposed to the circuit substrate; a liquid crystal layer interposed between the circuit substrate and the counter substrate, the liquid crystal layer showing vertical alignment as an initial alignment state; a first alignment layer manufactured on a side of the counter substrate using a coating process, the side facing the liquid crystal layer, the first alignment layer having a vertical alignment function; and a second alignment layer manufactured on a side of the circuit substrate using a vacuum process, the side facing the liquid crystal layer, the second alignment layer generating a pretilt.

The present invention provides a wiring material for forming wiring on a substrate by causing coalescence of conductive particles through heating, and including a binder layer and a wiring layer. The binder layer contains metal particles and having a binder function to be adhered to the substrate; and the wiring layer contains metal particles and laminated on the binder layer. The metal particles of the binder layer and the metal particles of the wiring layer are in contact with each other. With this arrangement, it is possible to provide a wiring material allowing use of a larger variety of materials, while also ensuring low resistance of wiring and improvement of adhesion between the wiring and the substrate.

The liquid crystal display device of the present invention includes a first substrate, a second substrate and a vertically aligned liquid crystal layer interposed between the first and second substrate. The device has a plurality of pixels each including a first electrode formed on the first substrate, a second electrode formed on the second substrate, and the liquid crystal layer interposed between the first and second electrode, and a shading region provided around the pixels. A plurality of supports for defining the thickness of the liquid crystal layer are placed regularly on the surface of the first or second substrate facing the liquid crystal layer in the shading region. The liquid crystal layer forms at least one liquid crystal domain exhibiting axisymmetric alignment when at least a predetermined voltage is applied, and the tilt direction of liquid crystal molecules in the at least one liquid crystal domain is defined with inclined sides of the plurality of supports.

In a liquid crystal display apparatus in which a liquid crystal domain having radially tilted orientation is formed in a pixel, high-quality reflection display with occurrence of an afterimage being suppressed is attained. A liquid crystal display apparatus includes a first substrate; a second substrate provided so as to face the first substrate; a vertical alignment type liquid crystal layer provided between the first substrate and the second substrate; a plurality of pixel areas each including a first electrode provided on the first substrate, a second electrode provided on the second substrate, and the liquid crystal layer provided between the first electrode and the second electrode; and a wall structure regularly arranged on a surface of the first electrode closer to the liquid crystal layer.
