The objective of one or more embodiments of the present invention is to provide a zirconia electrolyte which has high strength and which is suitable for a solid electrolyte layer of a solid oxide fuel cell, and a method for producing a zirconia electrolyte having high strength. The zirconia electrolyte according to one or more embodiments of the present invention is characterized in essentially consisting of zirconia stabilized by one or a plurality of oxides of rare earth selected from the group of scandium, yttrium, cerium, gadolinium and ytterbium, wherein a standard deviation of pore numbers in 10 or more regions having an area of 50 &#x3bc;mand not overlapping with each other on a fracture surface is 2.5 or more.

Disclosed is an optical planar thermoplastic resin composition including a lactone ring-containing polymer as a main component thereof, or including a lactone ring-containing polymer and at least one other thermoplastic resin. A resin composition which can enhance the heat resistance and the humidity resistance of a dye possessing the maximum absorption at wavelengths in the range of 380&#x2013;780 nm is provided. A polymer for imparting light resistance to fibers is prepared by radical polymerizing a monomer composition including a specific ultraviolet stabilizable monomer and/or ultraviolet absorptive monomer. A highly light resistant fiber includes the light resistance imparting polymer inside or on the surface of the fiber. The polymer can impart a satisfactory light resistance to fibers over a long time, and the fiber is highly resistant to light.

The thermosetting resin composition of the present invention comprises: a polymer (A) containing at least one monomer selected from ethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic anhydride, mono-ester thereof and mono-amide thereof as a repeating unit; and a polymer (B) containing an addition-polymerizable oxazoline and a hydroxyl group-containing monomer as repeating units, which can rapidly form a cured film excellent in acid rain resistance and other properties at relatively low temperature of 70.degree. to 140.degree. C. The further incorporation of a basic compound (C) and/or a compound (D) selected from the group consisting of a monohydric alcohol, a .beta.-diketone and an ortho-carboxylic ester to this thermosciting resin composition can give a remarkably improved storage stability to this resin composition as a one-part type composition. This thermosciting resin composition can exhibit excellent properties as a top clear coating for motor vehicle.
