There is provided a cap, which is one part of a button fastener. The cap comprises a bottom and a circumferential side rising from an edge of the bottom. The cap is composed of an inner layer made of aluminum or aluminum alloy as a first material and an outer layer made of copper or copper alloy as a second material. The first and second layer are laminated on each other continuously across the bottom and the circumferential side. A Vickers hardness of the second material may be harder than a Vickers hardness of the first material. A tensile strength of the first material may be less than 260 N/mm2, and a tensile strength of the second material may be equal to or higher than 260 N/mm2.

Cap, button group and method for forming button group

A rivet is applied from a rear surface of a fabric for mounting a burr on a front surface of the fabric. The rivet comprises a disk-shaped base, and a shank projecting from and concentrically with the base. The base includes an annular recess around a proximal end of the shank, which is depressed in a direction opposite to the shank-projecting direction, and a flange radially outward from the recess. The flange includes a plurality of bumps which are raised from an upper surface in the shank-projecting direction. The bumps may be provided on the upper surface of the flange at equal circumferential intervals, and a top of each of the bumps may be a curved face. The recess may have an inclined outer surface adjacent to the flange. Each of the bumps may have an inclined inner surface extending continuously from the inclined outer surface of the recess.

Rivet

A multi-face part is provided on a half-finished product which eventually becomes a metal decorative button. The multi-face part includes a plurality of small sectional faces and ridges obtusely joining between two adjacent small sectional faces. An outside of the half-finished product including the multi-face part is plated. Then, the half-finished product is barrel-polished. Thereby, the plating on portions corresponding to the small sectional faces remains and the plating on portions corresponding to the ridges is removed, exposing the ground color of the half-finished product. Then, the multi-face part is partially compressed to form the metal decorative button having a compressed decorative surface. The compressed decorative surface is given a pattern composed of a plurality of small sectional parts corresponding to the small sectional faces with the plating left and boundaries corresponding to the ridges with the plating removed.

Method for forming metal component

A cloth evaluation apparatus can grasp the piercing property and the cutting property with a cloth in advance. The cloth evaluation apparatus includes a measuring member having, on its distal side, a measuring part to pass through a cloth; a cloth/measuring part moving means for moving the cloth or the measuring member so that the measuring part passes through the cloth; a cloth supporting means for supporting the cloth at around a passing-through point, in the cloth, of the measuring part from both sides of the cloth when the measuring part passes through the cloth; and a load detecting means for detecting a load being applied to the measuring member while the measuring part passes through the cloth.

Cloth evaluation apparatus

A device and method for measuring the thickness of a cloth when the predetermined pressing force is applied to the cloth. A device for measuring a cloth thickness includes a stationary part having a base surface; a movable member having a pressing end to press a cloth against the base surface; a movable member driving mechanism to move the movable member linearly without rotating around itself from an initial position up to an over-pressing position where the pressing end presses the cloth against the base surface with a force exceeding the predetermined pressing force; a load cell for detecting a force with which the pressing end presses the cloth against the base surface; and a pulse coder for detecting the space between the base surface and the pressing end when a force value detected by the load cell reaches the predetermined pressing force.
