An object detection processing sectiondetects an object region, using at least one of multiple viewpoint images (e.g., left-viewpoint image) with different viewpoint positions on the basis of information learned through prior learning. A distance measuring sectionperforms ellipse fitting on the object region detected by the object detection processing sectionto set a distance measurement point arrangement region, and sets multiple distance measurement points in the distance measurement point arrangement region. The distance measuring sectionperforms a stereo matching process using the multiple viewpoint images to calculate a parallax with sub-pixel accuracy for each of the distance measurement points corresponding to the object indicated by an image of the object region and, on the basis of the calculated parallaxes, generates distance measurement information regarding the object. Thus, the distance measurement information regarding the object can be generated without elongating a baseline distance between imaging sections that acquire the multiple viewpoint images with different viewpoint positions to such an extent that the object can be distinguished from the background.

The situation of a conversation can be allowed to be grasped in more detail. A statement of each participant participating in a conversation is detected by processing a voice signal. The state of each participant participating in the conversation, for example, a direction in which each participant is looking is detected by processing an image signal. The state and existence of a conversation are determined on the basis of the statement of each participant and the state of each participant. The state and existence of a conversation can be determined with higher accuracy than in a technology that determines the state and existence of a conversation only by statements of participants.

A novel multiple camera calibration algorithm uses human joint points for matched key points. A recent machine-learning based human joint detector provides joint positions with labels (e.g. left wrist, right knee, and others). In single person situation, it directly provides matched key points between multiple cameras. Thus, the algorithm does not suffer a key-point matching problem, even in a very sparse camera configuration, which is challenging in the traditional image feature-based method. This algorithm provides easy setup for a multiple camera configuration for marker-less pose estimation.

The present technology relates to an imaging control device and method, and a vehicle that enable improvement of distance measurement accuracy. A distance of an observation point in a detection range is detected by a detection unit. The detected distance of the observation point is corrected by a correction unit on the basis of overlap of observation points in a plurality of detection ranges corresponding to a plurality of the detection units. For example, overlap between the observation point detected in the detection range on a side surface of the vehicle and the observation point detected in the detection range in front of the vehicle is detected, and the detected distance is corrected on the basis of the detected overlap of the observation points.
