According to one embodiment, a memory system includes: a non-volatile memory including a first area configured to hold first data received from an outside and a second area configured to hold second data; a volatile memory; and a controller. The non-volatile memory holds third data that associates a first address of the first data assigned to an instruction received from an outside with a second address of the first data that specifies a part of the first area. As a startup operation, the controller reads the third data from the non-volatile memory and holds the third data as fourth data in the volatile memory. The controller erases the fourth data from the volatile memory when the second data is held in the second area.

According to one embodiment, when being notified of an interruption of an external electric power supply, a second processor performs a saving operation for storing management information and data stored in a first volatile memory to a first non-volatile memory, and records a progress log, indicating a progress of the saving operation, into a second volatile memory. The first processor periodically checks whether the progress log is recorded in the second volatile memory or not, and when the progress log is recorded in the second volatile memory, the first processor stores the progress log into the second non-volatile memory.

According to one embodiment, two memory systems each including a memory and a controller are connected via a communication line. The controller includes a testing unit that performs a self-test process on the memory, a communication unit that communicates with the counterpart controller, and a status output unit. The communication unit performs a startup synchronization process which is performed before the self-test process and a termination synchronization process which is performed after the self-test process. The testing unit obtains a comprehensive test result from the test results of the two memory systems, and the status output unit of one memory system outputs the comprehensive test result.

According to one embodiment, a memory system includes a controller for controlling a data transfer between a nonvolatile memory and a host device. The controller writes, to the nonvolatile memory, management information to be used in the data transfer, a multiplexed pointer indicating a storage position, and a log indicating whether the writing of the pointer is successful, determines whether the multiplexing the pointer by the predetermined number is maintained according to at least one of the pointer and the log, and rewrites the multiplexed pointers to the nonvolatile memory when determining that the multiplexing the pointer by the predetermined number is not maintained.

An index information storing unit stores index information corresponding to portions being grouped depending on attributes of the recorded content from the outside. A playlist creating unit creates a playlist presenting editing targets for the attributes according to specified information specified by a user for the attributes using the specified information and index information appended to the portions of the recorded content depending on the attributes. A playlist storing unit stores the playlist created by the playlist creating unit. A content editing unit edits the editing targets in recorded content in the recorded data storing unit according to the index information in the index information storing unit and the playlist in the playlist storing unit.

A temperature adjustable seat is disclosed. The temperature adjustable seat comprises a seat and air being blown into an inside thereof a thermoelectric device for heating and cooling the air, an air-blower for blowing either heated air or cooled air by the thermoelectric device through the inside of the seat, and control device for controlling the thermoelectric device. The control device calculates a required heat quantity, the required heat quantity being a sum of a first heat quantity required for a seat surface temperature of the seat reaching to a target seat temperature and a second heat quantity that is given and received between the seat and an ambient environment and the control device controls a temperature of the thermoelectric device so as to supply the required heat quantity to the seat.
