The object is to provide a method for inducing pili formation in bacterium of genusand a method for promoting intestinal colonization of the bacterium. 3-Phenylpropionic acid and/or 3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)propionic acid are an active ingredient of a composition for inducing the pili formation in the bacterium of genusand a composition for promoting the intestinal colonization of the bacterium.

The purpose of the present invention is to provide a novel compound which has antibacterial activity againstandthat are causative bacteria of MAC infection and which is different in backbone structure from known drugs for treatment of MAC infection. One aspect of the present invention relates to a compound of Formula (I) [where Rhas the same meaning as described in the specification and claims] or a salt thereof, or a solvate thereof. Another aspect of the present invention relates to a method for producing the compound of Formula (I) or a salt thereof, or a solvate thereof, and a therapeutic agent forcomplex infection (MAC infection), which comprises the compound or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, or a pharmaceutically acceptable solvate thereof as an active ingredient.
