An ink jet printing apparatus is provided that can realize a stable ejection volume with the minimum change in a voltage value supplied in a scanning. To realize this, when a detected temperature of a print head is included in a first range, a pulse width control is performed while a voltage being fixed to a first voltage. When a detected temperature is included in a second range, a pulse width control is performed while a voltage being fixed to a second voltage. In the pulse width control based on the two voltages, a temperature partially overlapped region is provided between the first range and the second range. By this, even when a print head has an increased temperature during a print scanning, an ejection volume can be controlled, in the print scanning, while minimizing the switching of a driving voltage.

Ink jet printing apparatus and ink jet printing method

A coating liquid application apparatus is provided which can apply a coating liquid, such as a coating agent for improving a weatherability of a printed surface, to the printed surface of a print medium automatically and at high speed. For this purpose, this invention uses application mechanisms to apply the coating liquid to the print medium that was ink-printed with an image. Each application mechanism has a pair of rollers supplied with the coating liquid. Multiple stages of such application mechanisms are provided. The print medium is passed between the paired rollers successively from one application mechanism to another to apply the coating liquid to the print medium in a plurality of stages.

In one printing scan of a plurality of printing scans of a multi-scan system, in which an ink dominant on the surface of a printing medium is set, the printing percentage of the ink relatively low in the degree of glossiness is set to be higher than that of the ink relatively high in the degree of glossiness. Thereby, the ink relatively low in the degree of glossiness becomes dominant in an overall image, so that the degree of glossiness is stabilized at a low level, even if the bi-directional printing operation is carried out, or the printing duty varies. Thus, the glossy-banding hardly occurs.

A coating liquid application apparatus is capable of automatically and properly applying to a printed surface of a print medium a coating liquid, such as coating materials that improve weatherability of the printed surface. For that purpose, the apparatus includes a pair of rollers in rotating contact with both surfaces of the print medium, one of the rollers in contact with a printed surface of the print medium being used as an application roller, and a coating liquid supply member to supply the coating liquid stored in a coating liquid reservoir to the application roller.

The present invention performs a uniform lamination on a print medium by controlling generated heat of the thermal head for forming a protective layer according to a volume of water contained in the print medium. For this purpose, the apparatus has a printing unit to form an image on a print medium according to an input image signal by using an ink jet print head having a plurality of nozzles for ejecting ink droplets and a post-processing unit to form a protective layer on the print medium printed with the image in the printing unit by applying heat energy generated by a thermal head to a protective material. The heat energy applied from the thermal head to the printed medium is controlled by a control unit according to a printing condition, such as an ink volume applied to the print medium.

A laminating apparatus includes a conveyor for conveying a laminating object, a dryer for drying the laminating object conveyed by the conveyor, and a laminate device for effecting laminate processing on the laminating object dried by the dryer. A controller controls a temperature of the dryer so that the temperature of the dryer is adjusted to a predetermined temperature T before the laminating object arrives at the dryer, and so that the temperature of the dryer is adjusted to a predetermined temperature T greater than the temperature T when the laminating object is being dried by the dryer.
