In an optical connector, a sleeve is located between an optical fiber 6 and a light receiving/transmitting module 4 and makes an optical connection therebetween. The sleeve has a light guiding passage which is tapered from the optical fiber toward the light receiving/transmitting module, thereby forming a conical shape with its sloped side wall. The end face having a reduced diameter of the light-guiding passage 26 thus formed is arranged oppositely to the light receiving/transmitting module.

In a cap for an optical connector, light-receiving/emitting modules are inserted in a housing body, and the cap is attached to the housing body, so that the light-receiving/emitting modules are fixed by the cap. Protuberances are formed on the cap, and project in an attaching direction so as to be abutted against the light-receiving/emitting modules to prevent the light-receiving/emitting modules from being displaced out of position. The protuberances have elasticity. Opposite ends of each of the protuberances may be cut off at an acute angle, so that a distal end of the protuberance is substantially pointed. C-shaped relay apparatus between relative rotary materials

A relay device includes a first rotor having an inner cylinder, a second rotor having an outer cylinder, a flexible flat cable wound spirally in an annular space defined between the inner cylinder and the outer cylinder and a C-shaped moving member arranged so as to move along the annular space. The C-shaped moving member consists of an inner horizontal rib, an outer horizontal rib, an upper vertical rib and a lower vertical rib. When the flexible flat cable is rewound from the inner cylinder by the relative rotation between the inner cylinder and the outer cylinder, the contact area of the moving member with the cable can be reduced because the inner horizontal rib is in the form of a plate material projecting from the inner peripheral face of the moving member horizontally. Thus, it is possible to reduce the frictional force of the moving member on the cable and to prevent the cable from buckling.

Relay device for rotating members

Pins are arranged on the upper surface of a rotary case of a rotary connector for electrically connecting the steering wheel and the steering column of a vehicle by a flexible flat cable, while the steering wheel is provided on the lower surface thereof with coupling holes for respectively receiving a corresponding pin in order to securely hold the rotary case. Each of the pins is provided with an elastic silicon rubber cap. The elastic cap comprises a cylindrical main body and a plurality of elastic members extending longitudinally along the axis of the cylindrical section. When viewed from above, the elastic members show an arcuately curved and tapered profile projecting from the base toward the tip.

Structure for coupling steering wheel and rotary connector of vehicle

A relay device 10 between relative rotating members has a flexible flat cable 13 wound in a spiral shape and arranged in a ring space K between sleeve-shaped members (an inside cylindrical portion, an outside cylindrical portion) 11a, 12a relatively rotating on inner and outer sides. The sleeve-shaped members 11a, 12a are electrically connected to each other through the flexible flat cable 13. The holding member 13g, 13h is fixedly arranged in the flexible flat cable 13 near its center from the bent portion 13e, 13f.

An electrical connecting device includes a stator consisting of a cylindrical housing, a rotor, a flexible flat cable and a carrier. Being accommodated in an annular space defined between the rotor and the stator, the flat cable has an end fixed to the stator and another end fixed to the rotor. The carrier has a gap in the circumferential direction, providing C-shaped member. The flat cable is wound along the outer periphery of the rotor in one winding direction, while the flat cable is also wound along the inner periphery of the stator in the opposite winding direction, through a turning part of the flat cable. The carrier is provided with a pusher part for pushing the flat cable. The pusher part is formed to project from an inner edge of one circumferential end of the carrier toward another circumferential end around which the turning part of the flat cable is looped. When the flexible flat cable is drawn out of the gap of the carrier, the pusher part serves to depress the swollen part of the flexible flat cable. Consequently, the flexible flat cable can be moved smoothly without buckling.

Electrical connecting device for connecting rotor with stator through

A relay device includes a first rotor having an inner cylinder, a second rotor having an outer cylinder and a single cutter unit for cutting the flexible flat cable. In either case that, due to relative rotation of said first and second rotors, the flexible flat cable is wound around to the side of the inner cylinder over a predetermined volume or that the flexible flat cable is wound back to the side of the outer cylinder over another predetermined volume, the cutter unit serves to cut off the flexible flat cable. The cutter unit includes a C-shaped cutting arm having opposing base ends rotatably supported by the inner cylinder, a cutter holder attached to a leading end of the cutting arm and a cutter body mounted on the cutter holder so as to face the flexible flat cable at the leading end.
