A recording apparatus including a recording unit that performs recording by discharging a liquid on a medium transported in a transport direction, a liquid storage portion that is disposed on an apparatus front side in an apparatus depth direction and that includes a liquid container that contains the liquid discharged from the recording unit, and a maintenance unit that performs maintenance on the recording unit. In the recording apparatus, the maintenance unit is provided in an end portion area on a first direction side in a width direction, the width direction being a direction intersecting the depth direction, and the liquid storage portion is provided in an end portion area on a second direction side, the second direction side being a side opposite the first direction side in the width direction, the liquid storage portion extending in the depth direction to an occupying area of the maintenance unit.

A recording apparatus includes: a medium receiving tray that is switchable between a housed state of being retracted inside apparatus body that includes a recording unit and a protruding state of protruding from the apparatus body relative to the housed state; a power source that switches the medium receiving tray between the housed state and the protruding state; and a medium detection unit that detects whether there is the medium on the medium receiving tray or not. When an error is detected during execution of a recording job, a control unit, which controls the power source based on detection information of the medium detection unit, determines whether there is the medium on the medium receiving tray or not. When the control unit determines that there is no medium on the medium receiving tray, the control unit switches the medium receiving tray into the housed state.

A recording apparatus includes a recording section that performs recording on a medium, a housing that houses the recording section, a tray configured to move to a loading position in which to load the medium to be subjected to recording and ejected and a stowage position in which the tray is stowed in the housing, and a switching unit that switches between an automatic mode in which to automatically move the tray to the loading position and the stowage position and a manual mode in which to manually move the tray to the loading position and the stowage position.

A recording apparatus includes a holding tray in which a second recording material can be set and a transportation driving roller that transports a first recording material and the holding tray. A front edge of the holding tray is set back from an outer edge of the second recording material set in the holding tray.

A recording apparatus includes a holding tray, a transport driving roller that applies a transport force to the other surface of the holding tray, and an ejection driving roller located downstream of the recording unit such that the ejection driving roller is placed on the same side as the transport driving roller. The other surface of the holding tray has an irregular pattern including a protrusion or a flat portion and a recess, the protrusion coming into contact with the outer surface of the transport driving roller, the recess being located so as to face the ejection driving roller.
