It is an object of the present invention to provide a spacer which has an adequate Young's modulus for a spacer used in an image display panel and allows free adjustment of an electric resistance value, and an image display panel using the spacer. The spacer SPC holds a gap between a back panel PNLincluding a signal line CL, a scanning line GL, and an electronic source ELS provided for the main surface of a back substrate SUB, and a front panel PNLincluding a fluorescent material PH, a black matrix BM, and an anode AD provided for the main surface of a front substrate SUB. The spacer comprises phosphate glass including the same transition metal element with different valences. For electrical conduction, the included same transition metal element with different valences allows the use of hopping conduction between transition metal atoms with different valences to perform adjustment of electric resistance relatively easily. The transition metal element is at least one of vanadium (V), tungsten (W), molybdenum (Mo), niobium (Nb), and iron (Fe).

Spacer and image display panel using the same

An integral-type liquid crystal display module has a first display panel and a second display panel, and it can use a display panel of high resolution as the second display panel. The display device includes a first display panel, a second display panel, and a first flexible printed circuit board which connects the first display panel and the second display panel. The first display panel includes a display drive unit. Video lines of the second display panel are connected with the display drive unit through connection lines for video lines of the first flexible printed circuit board. Further, the second display panel includes a scanning line drive unit which supplies drive voltages to scanning lines of the second display panel.

As material for constituting the shadow mask , a single plate body made of a composite gradient alloy plate consisting of three layers A, B, C or more in which an alloy element has the concentration gradient which is continuously changed from one surface to the other surface is used. The present invention can realize a pressed mask having a large radius of curvature by self-correcting the thermal deformation such as a doming or the like.

Color cathode ray tube

A color cathode ray tube includes a generally rectangular shadow mask structure in which a skirt portion of a shadow mask is secured to a support frame. The shadow mask is formed by an apertured portion having a large number of electron beam transmission apertures, an imperforate portion disposed around the entire periphery of the apertured portion, a skirt portion being bent back and drooping from the entire periphery of the imperforate portion, and a support frame including a rectangular frame portion. The skirt portion of the shadow mask is secured to the inside of the rectangular frame portion, and a bent portion of the shadow mask, which defines a transitional region between the imperforate portion, and the skirt portion is formed in a shape where long sides are recessed inwardly and ends of the long sides of the skirt portion come into contact with the frame portion.

A color cathode ray tube includes an evacuated envelope having a generally rectangular panel portion, a narrow neck portion having a circular cross-section and a funnel portion tapering down from a panel-portion side thereof toward a neck-portion side thereof for connecting the panel portion and the neck portion, a three-color phosphor screen formed on an inner surface of the panel portion, an electron gun housed in the neck portion, and an internal conductive film extending from an inner wall of the neck portion to an inner wall of the funnel portion. The funnel portion is provided with a yoke-mounting portion of generally truncated quadrilateral-pyramidal shape for mounting a beam deflection yoke therearound on the neck-portion side of the funnel portion. The internal conductive film is formed of a first part and a second part, the first part is formed of graphite, metallic oxide and potassium silicate, and the second part is formed of graphite and potassium silicate. The first part extends from the neck portion in the vicinity of a forward end of the electron gun to a position in the yoke-mounting portion spaced a distance in a range of 60 mm to 150 mm from a splice line between the neck portion and the funnel portion, and the second part overlaps with the first part at opposing ends thereof and extends to a vicinity of a seal line between the funnel portion and the panel portion.

In a shadow mask color cathode ray tube, its shadow mask is not easily deformed into a concave shape when an impact or a vibration is applied to the shadow mask, so that a good image can be displayed. The electron beam passing holes of the shadow mask are each formed of an upper hole etched from the panel side of the shadow mask and a lower hole etched from the electron-gun side of the shadow mask. In each electron beam passing hole located in the peripheral portion of the shadow mask, the ratio of an upper-side etching quantity to a lower-side etching quantity is controlled to be 1.8 or less. By adjusting the balance in strength relative to compressive stresses between the panel side and the electron-gun side of the shadow mask, it is possible to prevent the shadow mask from being deformed into a concave shape.

Shadow mask having particular design of upper and lower holes for improved strength and halation characteristics

A color cathode ray tube comprises a panel which outside surface is flat and inside surface has curvature, and a pressed shadow mask having a curved surface opposed to the panel inside surface. The curved surface of the shadow mask is such that the radius of curvature decreases approximately linearly as the position moves from the center to the periphery. Radii of curvature on the major axis, minor axis, and diagonal axis at positions having the same distance from the shadow mask center do not have large differences. This configuration can increase the mechanical strength of the shadow mask.

A color CRT suppresses deformation of the main shadow mask surface after fastening the shadow mask to the mask frame. Numerous substantially rectangular grooves or substantially circular recesses are formed in the damper part disposed to the shadow mask skirt so that the bending strength in the circumference direction of the skirt is greater than the bending strength in the direction parallel to the tube axis.

A color cathode ray tube includes a shadow mask having an apertured portion, an imperforate portion and a skirt portion. The descending step portion satisfies one of conditions (a)-(c) of (a) its height is from 30% to of H , (b) its width is from 65% to 80% of W , or (c) its height H and width W are from 30% to 50% of H and from 65% to 80% of W , respectively, where H and W are its height and width at centerlines of long and short sides of the skirt portion, respectively.

A color cathode ray tube can reduce a warp amount derived from a spring back after shaping a shadow mask and can suppress the deformation of a main surface of the shadow mask after fixedly securing the shadow mask and a mask frame to each other. The color cathode ray tube includes tongue portions which are protruded from distal ends of skirt portions of the shadow mask and a plurality of stress absorption holes are formed in the tongue portions.

A panel has a flat external surface and has a curvature on an inner surface thereof. A coating having light absorption characteristics is formed on the external surface of the panel. To the top of the coating, a film which has light absorbing characteristics and contains an adhesive is adhered. The light absorption by the coating is large at the central portion of the panel and is small at the peripheral portion of the panel. The light absorption characteristics of the film is approximately uniform on the entire surface of the panel. Due to such a constitution, a color picture tube having a flat external surface, the least brightness difference and an excellent contrast can be realized.

A color cathode ray tube includes a rectangular shadow mask made of an Fe-Ni alloy material, and having an apertured portion, an imperforate portion surrounding the apertured portion and a skirt portion bent back from the imperforate portion, and a rectangular support frame for suspending the shadow mask by spot welding the skirt portion thereto. The skirt portion is provided with plural slits and plural embossments extending in a direction of the height of the skirt portion in one of long and short sides of the skirt portion, and the slits and embossments are juxtaposed around a circumference of the skirt portion. A majority of the slits in the one of the long and shirt sides of the skirt portion are slits delimiting continuous openings in the skirt portion which are not bridged by members other than the support frame.

A color cathode ray tube having an evacuated envelope including a panel portion, a neck portion and a funnel portion for connecting the panel portion and the neck portion. The panel portion includes a faceplate, a plural-color phosphor screen formed on an inner surface of the faceplate and having a multiplicity of phosphor dots of a plurality of colors. A shadow mask has a multiplicity of apertures therein and spaced from the phosphor screen and a plural-beam in-line type electron gun is housed in the neck portion. The plural-color phosphor screen is configured such that a first horizontal phosphor dot pitch Ph on a horizontal center line of a useful area of the phosphor screen at a first predetermined distance from a center of the useful area of the phosphor screen toward sides of the useful area is less than or equal to 101% of a second horizontal phosphor dot pitch Ph at the center of the useful area, wherein the first predetermined distance is two-thirds of a distance from the center of the useful area to the sides of the useful area. A third horizontal phosphor dot pitch Ph at corners of the useful area is larger than the second horizontal phosphor dot pitch Ph at the center of the useful area and a first vertical phosphor dot pitch Pv at the corners of the useful area is smaller than a second vertical phosphor dot pitch Pv at the center of the useful area.
