Within a casing accommodating members for performing magnetic transfer of signals from one medium to another, a plurality of suction ports are fixedly disposed at various locations. Resin tubes connect the suction ports to respective particle counters for the measurement of particles at each location, whereby the source of particles is locatable.

Magnetic transfer apparatus and particle monitoring method

A positioning mark of a soft magnetic film is provided at the center of a master disk, and a beam from a light source irradiates the position of the mark. When a optical reception sensor using a CCD recognizes the mark, the recognizability of the positioning mark can be improved by using a wavelength selective filter or a laser as the light source. Additionally, the recognizability of the positioning mark can be improved by forming the positioning mark using a material other than a soft magnetic material.

Magnetic transfer apparatus

A magnetic bias apparatus for generating a magnetic field for recording or erasing information in the magnetooptical disk drive apparatus is disclosed. The magnetic bias apparatus has a permanent magnet for generating a bias magnetic field which is rotatable about a rotating axis, a coil for rotating the permanent magnet and a circuit for driving the coil. The central axis of the coil is directed toward the rotating axis parallel to the plane of a magnetoptical disk and perpendicular to a plane of the permanent magnet defined by the two poles and extending through the central axis. The apparatus can be constructed in a reduced height while the permanent magnet can be rapidly rotated.

A magneto-optic disk includes tracks each of which is divided into a plurality of blocks in order to define the locations where data is stored. Each block has address information recorded as a pit providing an address. The plurality of blocks are arranged non-equidistantly, or the pattern is changed according to the track position, to enable detection of a sector position or a track position.

A recording head for use in a facsimile communication system comprises a plurality of recording elements each having an effective recording area surrounded by an ineffective area. The recording elements are arranged on a plane in a step-like configuration in which the elements are displaced both longitudinally and transversely with respect to another such that there is a spacing between the effective areas of the recording elements in the longitudinal direction and there is no spacing between them in the transverse direction. The recording head is so oriented that the longitudinal direction corresponds to the direction of line scan.
