A fuse-receiving housing is capable to receive selectively one of a mini-fuse and a low height fuse and is provided in an electrical junction box. The housing has a common insertion-limiting part on the inner walls of its cavity. The inner walls are opposed to narrow opposite end surfaces of the received fuses. The common insertion-limiting part is a pair of engagement ribs that has at sloping top surfaces at the upper part thereof that inclines downward and approaches to each other to provide a tapering gap. The engagement ribs locate the low height fuse in the housing when lower surfaces of stepped portions of the fuse body engage the top surfaces. Likewise, the engagement ribs locate the mini-fuse in the housing when lower end edges of a fuse body of the mini-fuse engage the top surfaces.

A tuning fork-like terminal is accommodated in a terminal-containing section. The tuning fork-like terminal is provided on the central end with a slit adapted to receive a tab being connected. Clamping portions are projected from the opposed surfaces of the slit to pinch the tab between the clamping portions. A slit gage is inserted into a rectangular terminal hole formed in an end of the terminal-containing section to inspect a slit width between the clamping portions of the tuning fork-like terminal. A wide hole portion is formed in the rectangular terminal hole at the insertion position of the slit gage. The wide hole portion is formed by widening a length of a short side of the rectangular terminal hole. The central position of the slit in the tuning fork-like terminal and the central position of the slit gage coincide with each other, even if the tuning fork-like terminal is maximally shifted from the central position in the terminal-containing section, whereby the slit width can be precisely inspected to precisely inspect a slit width in a tuning fork-like terminal accommodated in a terminal-containing section of an electrical junction box.

An electrical connector box structure that provides external visual indication of an incompletely assembled position of a press fit bus bar. A wire crimping portion is provided on one side of a base plate of press fit bus bar, and terminals, which project from the other side of the base plate, are provided for connection to electrical components. The bus bar also includes a lock aperture that locks the bus bar into a bus bar chamber, and a stop flange formed as an outwardly bent portion located beneath the lock aperture. A flexible flange, on which a lock ridge is formed, opposes stop flange. The incomplete insertion of bus bar results in stop flange failing to move over the lock ridge, thus pressing flexible flange outward in the direction opposite to the lock ridge to provide visual indication of the incomplete insertion condition.

Fuse bus bars in a fuse module are provided with press contact terminals that are connected to terminals of each fuse and are disposed closely in parallel with each other. If there are some circuits to be connected and the other circuits to be divided in all circuit specifications in the different kinds of and same kind of automobile vehicles that mount junction boxes, the fuse bus bars constituting the circuits are integrally connected by bridging portions. If the circuits are required to be divided in accordance with the circuit specification of the automobile vehicle mounting the fuse bus bars, an alteration of circuit can be carried out by cutting off the bridging portion.

Junction box

An electrical connector locking system includes a first connector receptacle provided on an electrical connector box, a lock cover joinable to a first electrical connector inserted to the first connector receptacle, and a first engagement portion provided on the lock cover. The lock cover is pivotably supported by a pivot base and the first engagement portion is engageable with a second engagement portion provided on the first electrical connector. A double locking mechanism is thus formed by the first electrical connector engaging with the first connector receptacle upon insertion therein, and by the lock cover pivoting to a position where the first engagement portion engages with the second engagement portion on the first electrical connector.

The present invention provides an electrical junction box suitable for connection, for example, to a wire harness in a vehicle such as an automobile. The box is adapted to provide electrical connection to a plurality of electrical connectors, a plurality of fuses and a plurality of relays, the box having a casing, a connector circuit having a plurality of first bus bars, a fuse circuit discrete from the connector circuit and having a plurality of second bus bars and a relay circuit discrete from the connector circuit and having a plurality of third bus bars. At least one of the second and at least one of the third bus bars are welded to respective ones of the first bus bars at welding portions which are received in a protection structure which presses them towards each other. The protection structure clamps the joined welding portions so that the risk of disconnection of the welded connection is reduced or avoided.

Electrical junction box for a vehicle

Connector terminals are provided to enable connection of electrical cables and connector terminals automatically to prevent the connector terminals from being inserted into sub-harnesses in later stages, and to make circuit modification easier. The connector terminals include respectively a male terminal portion at one end and a female terminal portion at the other end. The respective connector terminals further include a cable-fit portion. The connector terminals are contained in a junction case with top and bottom openings. Electrical cables are then wired in the junction case and fitted into the connector terminals. When several such junction cases are superposed, the male terminal portions fit into the female terminal portions through the openings, and the electrical cables separately wired in different junction cases are connected to one another.

An electrical junction box for a vehicle has a connector module providing connection to an electrical connector, a fuse module providing connection to a plurality of fuses, and a relay module providing connection to a plurality of relays. The connector module has a plurality of insulation substrates stacked one on another to form a layered assembly having a pair of main faces and a plurality of sides, and bus bars on the insulation substrates providing first welding tabs which are aligned with one another in at least one linear row adjacent one of the sides of the layered assembly. The fuse module has one or more insulation substrates and bus bars providing projecting second welding tabs confronting the welding tabs of the connector module. The relay module has an insulation substrate and bus bars providing third welding tabs also confronting the welding tabs of the connector module. The second and third welding tabs are welded to the first tabs to effect connection of the circuits.

An electrical junction box for a vehicle has a connector module for connection in use to electrical connectors, a fuse module carrying fuses, and a relay module connected to relays. The connector module includes circuit plates stacked one on another to form a layered assembly which is mounted vertically. The fuse module has a circuit plate and is mounted at a lower opening of a casing so that it is accessible for insertion and removal of fuses. The circuit plate of the fuse module is perpendicular to the main faces of the layered assembly. A compact construction permitting easy access to the fuses is obtained.

An electrical junction box for a vehicle provides electrical connection to electrical connectors, fuses and relays. Upper and lower case parts of a casing contain a base circuit, a fuse circuit and a relay circuit. The base circuit has first bus bars and insulation layers stacked together. The first bus bars connect to electrical connectors in use. The fuse circuit has a substrate which is discrete from the base circuit, and second bus bars providing connection to fuses in use. The relay circuit has a substrate, which is discrete from said base circuit, and third bus bars providing connection to relays in use. The second bus bars and the third bus bars are joined to the first bus bars by welding. A compact construction which is easily modified is obtained.

An electrical connection construction for connecting conductive members of an internal circuit of an electrical connection box and wires of a wiring harness, in which the wires of the wiring harness are inserted into the electrical connection box through openings formed on the electrical connection box such that conductors of the wires of the wiring harness are connected to the conductive members of the internal circuit of the electrical connection box, respectively by a joining member.
