Provided is an air-cooled fuel cell system, wherein the air-cooled fuel cell system comprises a fuel cell, an oxidant gas system and a cooling gas system; wherein the fuel cell comprises a fuel cell stack comprising stacked unit fuel cells; wherein each of the unit fuel cells comprises a cathode separator having an oxidant gas flow path in a wavy plate form, a membrane electrode gas diffusion layer assembly, an anode separator having a fuel gas flow path in a wavy plate form, and a cooling fin having a cooling gas flow path in a wavy plate form; and wherein the air-cooled fuel cell system has a cooling ability distribution in an oxidant gas flow direction of the oxidant gas flow path.

Air-cooled fuel cell system

To provide an air-cooled fuel cell system configured to efficiently warm up a fuel cell. An air-cooled fuel cell system, wherein the air-cooled fuel cell system comprises: a fuel cell, a reaction air supplier configured to supply reaction air to a reaction air inlet of the fuel cell, a reaction air supply flow path configured to connect the reaction air supplier and the reaction air inlet of the fuel cell, a reaction air discharge flow path configured to connect a reaction air outlet of the fuel cell and the outside of the air-cooled fuel cell system, a housing, a temperature acquirer configured to acquire a temperature of inside air discharged from a cooling air outlet, and a controller; and wherein, based on the temperature measured by the temperature acquirer, the controller controls opening and closing of the opening and closing unit and an opening degree thereof.

To provide an air-cooled fuel cell system configured to suppress thermal runaway. An air-cooled fuel cell system, wherein the reaction air supply flow path comprises a first valve in a region downstream of the reaction air supplier and upstream of the reaction air inlet of the fuel cell; wherein the reaction air discharge flow path comprises a second valve downstream of the reaction air outlet of the fuel cell; wherein the fuel gas supply flow path comprises a third valve upstream of the fuel gas inlet of the fuel cell; wherein the fuel off-gas discharge flow path comprises a fourth valve downstream of the fuel gas outlet of the fuel cell.

To provide an air-cooled fuel cell system configured to suppress thermal runaway. An air-cooled fuel cell system, wherein the air-cooled fuel cell system comprises: a fuel cell, a first temperature acquirer, a second temperature acquirer and a controller; wherein the fuel cell comprises a cooling fin made of a metal; wherein the first temperature acquirer is disposed at a position which is near a cooling air inlet of the fuel cell and which is apart from the cooling fin; wherein the second temperature acquirer is disposed to come into contact with the cooling fin; wherein the controller monitors temperatures acquired by the first and second temperature acquirers.

Provided is a fuel-cell unit cell having a first gas diffusion layer that is laid on a first surface of a membrane-electrode assembly such that an outer peripheral edge portion thereof protrudes from the first surface of the membrane-electrode assembly. At a first part of the fuel-cell unit cell: the fuel-cell unit cell has a bonding layer; between the membrane-electrode assembly and a portion of the first gas diffusion layer on an inner side from the outer peripheral edge portion thereof, the bonding layer bonds the membrane-electrode assembly and the portion together; and between a support frame and the outer peripheral edge portion of the first gas diffusion layer, between the support frame and a first separator, and/or between the support frame and a second separator, the bonding layer bonds the support frame and the outer peripheral edge portion or the separator together.

Fuel-cell unit cell

A fuel cell single cell includes a pair of separators each having manifold holes, a frame disposed between the separators, a power generating unit disposed in an opening of the frame, and a plurality of gas flow channels configured to connect the power generating unit with the manifold holes. Each of the gas flow channels has a distal channel portion defined by a frame groove provided in the frame and configured to communicate with the manifold holes, and a proximal channel portion defined by a separator groove provided in the corresponding separator and configured to communicate with the power generating unit. Each of the gas flow channels is configured to be independent of adjacent other gas flow channels, at least over a range from a distal end of the distal channel portion, which communicates with the manifold holes, to a point in the proximal channel portion.

Fuel cell single cell

This disclosure provides a manufacturing method for manufacturing a fuel cell separator. The manufacturing method includes: providing a material sheet including a fiber sheet, carbon particles, and a resin, the carbon particles and the resin being applied to the fiber sheet; and pressing the material sheet into a recess-projection shape by which a gas circulation passage is to be formed, and forming a top portion and a shift portion. In the pressing of the material sheet, the material sheet is pressed such that a draft of the top portion is higher than a draft of the shift portion.

Fuel cell separator and manufacturing method for manufacturing fuel cell separator

Disclosed herein is a fuel-cell unit cell, at a first part of which: the fuel-cell unit cell has a bonding layer; between a first separator and an outer peripheral edge portion of a first gas diffusion layer, the bonding layer bonds the first separator and the outer peripheral edge portion together; between the first separator and an outer peripheral edge portion of a membrane-electrode assembly, the bonding layer is bonded to the outer peripheral edge portion of the membrane-electrode assembly; and between the first separator and a support frame and/or between a second separator and the support frame, the bonding layer bonds the support frame and the separator together.

A fuel cell stack includes a stacked body including unit cells that are stacked and an end member arranged at an end side of the stacked body in a stacking direction of the stacked body.

Fuel cell stack

Disclosed herein is a fuel-cell unit cell, at a first part of which: the fuel-cell unit cell has a bonding layer; between an outer peripheral edge portion of a first gas diffusion layer and a portion of a membrane-electrode assembly on an inner side from an outer peripheral edge portion thereof, the bonding layer bonds these portions together; between a first separator and the outer peripheral edge portion of the membrane-electrode assembly, the bonding layer is bonded to at least the outer peripheral edge portion of the membrane-electrode assembly; and between the first separator and a support frame and/or between a second separator and the support frame, the bonding layer bonds these parts together.

In a cooling system of a fuel cell, a first container for receiving a part of a coolant from a circulation flow path for circulating a coolant between a fuel cell and a heat exchanger is connected to the circulation flow path, a second container is connected to the first container via a pressure regulating valve, and a gas diffusion portion is provided in the second container. When a pressure inside the first container is equal to or higher than a threshold, the pressure regulating valve is opened and a gas inside the first container is released into the second container. The gas diffusion portion gradually discharges the gas released into the second container to outside of the system.

Cooling system of fuel cell

A fuel cell includes: an electrolyte membrane; first and second catalyst layers respectively formed on first and second surfaces of the electrolyte membrane; and a separator, the first catalyst layer being arranged between the separator and the electrolyte membrane, wherein the separator includes first and second grooves through which reactant gas flows between the first catalyst layer and the separator.

Fuel cell

Stacked unit cellsof a fuel cell each comprise a membrane electrode assembly, a pair of gas separatorsand, and a first sealing portionprovided between the pair of gas separators. The fuel cell further comprises a second sealing portion provided between adjacent ones of the unit cells, a first manifold in which reaction gas flows, and a second manifold in which a coolant flows. One of the first sealing portion and the second sealing portion is an adhesive sealing portion, and another one of the first sealing portion and the second sealing portion is formed of a gasket. The adhesive sealing portion and the gasket are provided along the outer circumference of the manifold, in the fuel cell as viewed in a stacking direction. The gasket and the adhesive sealing portion are arranged in this order from a side closer to the manifold.

Fuel cell and method of manufacturing fuel cell

A fuel cell includes: an electrolyte membrane; first and second catalyst layers respectively formed on first and second surface of the electrolyte membrane; and a separator disposed opposite to the electrolyte membrane with respect to the first catalyst layer.

A fuel cell stack that can suppress degraded cooling performance due to the presence of air bubbles. The fuel cell stack includes a plurality of stacked fuel cells, each fuel cell having a power generation portion and a pair of separators. The fuel cell stack further includes a plurality of refrigerant channels inside the power generation portion that are provided in a region corresponding to the power generation portion and that allow communication between the refrigerant inlet manifold and refrigerant outlet manifold, and a refrigerant channel outside the power generation portion that is provided in a region above the power generation portion in the gravity direction and that allows communication between the refrigerant inlet manifold and refrigerant outlet manifold. The refrigerant channels inside and outside the power generation portion communicate with each other.
