In a large format printer, a print head which includes a plurality of drive elements is provided with a head drive circuit which applies a voltage which is based on a first drive signal, a second drive signal, and a reference voltage signal which are input from a control circuit via a cable to the drive element. In a first flat cable and a second flat cable which configure the cable and which are in an overlapping state, a first wire which propagates a first drive signal is adjacent to a third wire which propagates a reference voltage signal, a second wire which propagates a second drive signal is adjacent to a third wire, and, in an overlapping direction, the first wire faces the third wire and the second wire faces the third wire.

A liquid discharge apparatus has a head provided with discharge sections which discharge a liquid, a drive circuit configured to generate driving signals for driving the discharge sections and discharging the liquid, a carriage mounted with the head and the drive circuit, and a carriage support section configured and arranged to support the carriage. A shortest distance between the carriage support section and the drive circuit is shorter than a shortest distance between the carriage support section and the discharge section which is closest to the carriage support section.

A liquid ejecting apparatus includes a drive signal generation section which generates a drive signal and a liquid ejecting head. The drive signal is a periodic signal. One period of the drive signal has two durations of (i) a droplet ejection duration with a waveform part used to eject the droplet from the nozzle and (ii) a droplet non-ejection duration without the waveform part used to eject the droplet from the nozzle, and the droplet non-ejection duration is equal to or longer than the droplet ejection duration.

A driving circuit that drives a capacitive load includes a drive signal generator that generates a drive signal driving the capacitive load via a transistor pair in response to an analog signal, and a power-source voltage generator that generates a high-voltage power-source voltage and a low-voltage power-source voltage and that supplies the high-voltage power-source voltage and the low-voltage power-source voltage respectively to collectors of the transistors of the transistor pair via a high-voltage output terminal and a low-voltage output terminal. The power-source voltage generator includes multiple power sources connected in parallel, a backcurrent prevention diode connected between the adjacent power sources, and a switch unit that connects the adjacent power sources in series under the on-off control of a controller each time the drive signal rises above a predetermined threshold value or falls below a predetermined threshold value.

Driving circuit for capacitive load and fluid injecting device

A driving circuit that drives a capacitive load includes a drive signal generator that generates a drive signal that drives the capacitive load via a transistor pair in response to an analog signal. A power-source voltage generator generates high-voltage and low-voltage power-source voltages and supplies the power-source voltages to collectors of the transistors via a high-voltage output terminal and a low-voltage output terminal. The power-source voltage generator includes multiple power sources connected in parallel and a switch unit that connects the adjacent power sources in series each time the drive signal rises above or falls below a predetermined threshold value. The driving circuit further includes a voltage controlling capacitor connected to the low-voltage output terminal of the power source, and a power recovery unit having a switch unit that recovers a charge accumulated in the voltage controlling capacitor back to the power source via the high-voltage output terminal.

A driving circuit for a capacitive load includes a driving signal generating unit that generates a driving signal for driving the capacitive load by using a pair of driving transistors. A power source voltage generating unit generates high-voltage and low-voltage power source voltages that are higher and lower, respectively, than the voltage of the driving signal and applies the voltages to collectors of the driving transistors. The power source voltage generating unit includes a pair of power source transistors and a capacitor. The low-voltage power source voltage is generated in an output side of the power-source transistor pair as a voltage that is in a voltage region lower than that of the driving signal and follows the driving signal. The high-voltage power source voltage is output from a high-voltage terminal of the capacitor, is in a voltage region higher than that of the driving signal, and follows the driving signal.

An electrically-chargeable element control device includes a plurality of coils, a switch circuit, and a controller. One end of each of a plurality of the coils is connected to a power supply. The switch circuit is connected to an other end of each of a plurality of the coils and is connected to one electrode provided on each of a plurality of electrically-chargeable elements. The controller connects a selected coil to an electrically-chargeable element to be charged and discharged by controlling the switch circuit depending on the number of the electrically-chargeable elements to be charged and discharged, and charges and discharges with resonance the electrically-chargeable element to be charged and discharged.

There is disclosed a head driving device which drives a plurality of pressure generating elements for generating pressure fluctuation in a jetted object contained in each of associated pressure chambers formed in a jetting head of a jetting apparatus to eject the jetted object from each of nozzles communicated with the associated pressure chambers. In the device, a head driver generates a drive signal which is selectively applied to at least one of the pressure generating elements to be driven. A bias potential provider selectively applies a bias potential to at least one of the pressure generating elements not to be driven.

The liquid ejection apparatus includes: (A) a drive signal generation section generating first and second drive signals to be applied to an element that can execute a liquid-ejection operation; (B) a data output section outputting first selection data for setting an application state of the first drive signal to the element, and second selection data for setting an application state of the second drive signal to the element; (C) a data inspection section inspecting the first and second selection data having been output from the data output section, and outputting inspected first selection data and inspected second selection data, wherein if the first and second selection data indicate that the first and second drive signals are to be applied to the element simultaneously, then the data inspection section continues to output the inspected first- and inspected second selection data that had been output up to then; and (D) a switch section including a first switch that controls application of the first drive signal to the element based on the inspected first selection data, and a second switch that controls application of the second drive signal to the element based on the inspected second selection data. The liquid ejection apparatus includes: a head having a plurality of nozzles each for ejecting a liquid droplet, and a plurality of elements each provided in correspondence with a respective one of the nozzles; a drive signal generation section that generates a first drive signal including a plurality of waveform sections, and a second drive signal that is different from the first drive signal and that includes a plurality of waveform sections; and a controlling section that drives the element to cause the liquid droplet to be ejected from the nozzle, by selecting one of the first drive signal and the second drive signal, further selecting a predetermined waveform section from among the plurality of waveform sections included in the drive signal that has been selected, and applying, to the element, the predetermined waveform section that has been selected.

Each of a plurality of driver ICs, which drives an associated print head, includes an analog voltage provider, which provides an analog voltage which is inversely proportional to a temperature of the driver IC, a reference temperature provider, which provides a digital value corresponding to a reference temperature, a D/A converter, which converts the digital value into a corresponding analog value, and a comparator, which compares the analog voltage with the analog value and outputs a comparison signal indicating whether the analog voltage is higher than the analog value. A temperature detector determines whether the temperature of at least one of print heads is higher than the reference temperature in accordance with the comparison signal.
