Luminance life can be enhanced in a vacuum fluorescent display that is driven according to a dynamic drive scheme and that uses a phosphor having remarkable luminance saturation. A drive method for a vacuum fluorescent display, having causing a phosphor layer formed on an anode to display under low-energy electron excitation by the dynamic driving, wherein the phosphor included in the phosphor layer is a phosphor in which the luminance increases when a pulse width is reduced under conditions in which the Du is kept the same in the dynamic driving, and in which, after a voltage is applied to the anode and the luminance of the phosphor is saturated, the time at which the luminance value decreases to 10% of the saturation luminance value following stoppage of the voltage application is 200 &#x3bc;sec or more; and wherein the pulse width and pulse repetition period in the dynamic driving are made variable in the direction of maintaining the initial luminance of the phosphor as driving time elapses.

There is provided an organic-inorganic hybrid vitreous material comprising a composite of a polycondensate of an organoalkoxysilane represented by RSi(OR)(Ris an organic group, Ris a C-Calkyl group, and n is 1-2) and an organic polymer, wherein the polycondensate of the organoalkoxysilane is in 40-70 wt % and the organic polymer is in 30-60 wt % in case that the total weight of the composite is taken as 100 wt %.

The present invention relates to a glass substrate which is characterized in that it has a primer layer that is formed thereon and includes a hydrolysis product of a hydrolysable silicon compound having an alkylene group and a hydrolysis product of a hydrolysable zirconium compound or hydrolysable titanium compound, and that, in the primer layer, zirconium is in an amount by weight ratio of 0.0002 times to 0.0025 times that of silicon, or titanium is in an amount by weight ratio of 0.0005 times to 0.0045 times that of silicon. Furthermore, the present invention relates to an anti-fogging article having a resin film that exhibits water-absorptive property and/or hydrophilic property and is formed on the primer layer of the glass substrate.

An antifogging article includes a substrate and an antifogging film covering the substrate. This antifogging film contains a water-absorbing organic polymer and an inorganic substance and has a water repellent finishing on a surface of the antifogging film. Another antifogging article includes (1) a substrate, (2) a water-absorbing, antifogging film covering the substrate, and (3) a water-permeable, protective film covering the antifogging film. This antifogging film contains (a) a polyvinyl acetal resin having a degree of acetalization of not greater than 10 mol % and (b) a hydrolysate or partial hydrolysate of an alkylsilylisocyanate represented by the general formula R SiR where R is an alkyl group having a carbon atom number of 1 or 2, R is an isocyanate group, and n is 1 or 2. These antifogging articles are superior in antifogging property and abrasion resistance.

To produce a modified barium titanate ceramic which is semiconductive and sufficiently high in breakdown voltage and has a low specific resistance at room temperature and a high positive temperature coefficient (PTC) of resistance, the invention provides a powder composition comprising (A) a basic mixture consisting of 45-85 mol % of BaTiO.sub.3 powder, 1-20 mol % of SrTiO.sub.3 powder, 5-20 mol % of CaTiO.sub.3 powder and 1-20 mol % of PbTiO.sub.3 powder, (B) a source of a dopant element such as Nb, Sb, Y, La or Ce to render the ceramic semiconductive, (C) a source of Mn such as MnC.sub.2 O.sub.4 and/or a source of Cu such as CuO added such that the total amount of Mn and Cu is not more than 0.06 mol % on the basis of the quantity of the mixture (A) with proviso that the amount of Mn is not more than 0.025 mol % and (D) SiO.sub.2 amounting to 0.1-2.0 mol % on the basis of the quantity of the mixture (A). The BaTiO.sub.3 powder and the SrTiO.sub.3 powder are produced by calcining BaTiO(C.sub.2 O.sub.4).sub.2 and SrTiO(C.sub.2 O.sub.4).sub.2, respectively, and in each of these powders very fine primary particles agglomerate to constitute porous and coarse secondary particles (about 100-200 .mu.m). The PbTiO.sub.3 powder may be produced by calcining PbTiO(C.sub.2 O.sub.4).sub.2 so as to have nearly the same structure as the BaTiO.sub.3 and SrTiO.sub.3 powders. The aimed ceramic is produced by compacting the powder composition into a green body and sintering it at 1300.degree.-1400.degree. C.

Powder composition for sintering into modified barium titanate

A modified lead barium titanate ceramic which has a fundamental composition of (Ba.sub.1-x-y Sb.sub.y Pb.sub.x)TiO.sub.3, where x is not greater than 0.9 and usually not smaller than 0.6 and y is from 0.001 to 0.1, and has a high positive temperature coefficient of resistivity (PTCR) over a range of temperature higher than about 350.degree. C. at the lower boundary, is produced by using a metal salt of an organic acid such as lead titanate salt of oxalic acid as the source of Pb and by adding at least one of BaCO.sub.3, SiO.sub.2, BN and TiO.sub.2 to the raw materials of the above fundamental composition. After thermally decomposing the organic acid metal salt the mixture of the raw materials including the additive(s) is compacted and sintered. By this method the sintering is achieved with good reproducibility and with little dissipation of lead, and the obtained titanate ceramic is good and durable in the PTCR characteristics and hence is useful as the material of a PTC thermistor functioning at medium-to-high temperatures.
