In an inkjet printer including first to n-th paper storages, such as a magazine type storage or a cassette type storage, and associated first to n-th upstream transport lines (where n is a natural number larger than 1), a paper carrier (switchback unit) is provided which has a roller pair reciprocable between any of first to n-th receive points corresponding to the downstream ends of the first to n-th upstream transport lines, respectively, and a forwarding point corresponding to the upstream end of a downstream transport line by means of a moving mechanism. The paper carrier is configured so that the roller pair receives and grips, at one of the first to n-th receive points, a sheet of printing paper transported from the associated upstream transport line, the moving mechanism moves the roller pair from the receive point to the forwarding point and the gripped sheet of printing paper is forwarded at the forwarding point to the downstream transport line.

Determination is made whether a film stored in a new type of film cartridge is developed or not before the film is processed. A detection sensor detects whether or not there is a nail on an outer wall of the new type of film cartridge to judge whether the film stored in the cartridge is developed or not. Infrared sensors and visible light sensors detect whether or not the film fed from the cartridge under the instruction of a control circuit is developed or not. If both the nail detection sensor and the infrared and visible light sensors give the same result, the result is judged to be correct.

Method for determining whether film is developed or undeveloped

An operations condition display system for use in a photographic processing system is disclosed. The display system includes a first communication component provided in an automatic film developing device for transmitting information concerning an operation condition of the film developing device, a second communication component provided in a photographic printing device for receiving the information from the first communication component, and a display component provided in the photographic printing device for displaying the information received by the second communication component.
