A display device of at least one embodiment of the present invention is a display device of an active matrix type, and includes a display driver supplied with image data included in serial data by serial transmission. The serial data is provided with a first flag for specifying a polarity of voltage of a common electrode. The display driver extracts the first flag from the serial data in accordance with a timing of a serial clock, and performs display in accordance with the image data, while generating the voltage of the common electrode which voltage has the polarity specified by the first flag extracted. This realizes a display device capable of generating a timing signal for AC common voltage, while having a small circuit.

A display device of an embodiment of the present invention is a display device of an active matrix type, and includes a display driver supplied with image data included in serial data by serial transmission. The serial data has a first flag for specifying a polarity of voltage of a common electrode added thereto. The display driver generates, in accordance with a timing of a serial clock, a timing signal for a horizontal period for a data signal line driver, and a timing signal for a gate signal line driver. This realizes a display device capable of easily generating, within a driver IC, a timing signal for writing the image data in pixels.

Liquid crystal display device, active matrix substrate, and electronic device

In one embodiment of the present invention, the present shift register is a shift register provided in a display device by which a partial-screen display is available. The shift register includes a shift stopping circuit that is provided in an in-between stage, and stops operation of the shift register between a first stage and a last stage of the shift register in partial-screen display. The shift register also includes a circuit that is provided in a stage other than the in-between stage in such a manner that the circuit does not perform signal processing but serves as a signal path. The circuit is same as the shift stopping circuit in configuration. The foregoing allows improvement in display quality of the display device employing the present shift register.

Shift register, circuit driving display device, and display device

A driving circuit of a display device is disclosed in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention creates a non-display area on a display section of the display device so that a partial-screen display becomes available. The driving circuit includes a shift register and a signal processing circuit that processes a signal tapped off from the shift register. In partial-screen display, the signal processing circuit interrupts a signal tapped off from a predetermined stage of the shift register. This makes it possible to realize a driving circuit of a display device by which a high-quality display is possible with a small circuit area.

A source driver of the present invention includes a bypass switch which connects two source lines with each other. A video signal to one of the source lines is simultaneously supplied to the other source line. The source driver is thus capable of indirectly transmitting a video signal of a video line, supplied to one source line, to the other source line. Therefore, according to the source driver, it is possible to transmit video signals on fewer image lines than the number of source lines. As a result, it is possible to significantly lower power consumption.

Signal output device and display device

An image pickup device, capable of enlarging images while electronically enlarging the same, picks up images of an object while electronically enlarging the same by two times relative to those in the normal image pickup. In the enlarging image pickup mode, signals having been delayed by a 6H delay circuit are interpolated by a luminance signal interpolating circuit. Horizontal contour of an image based on the interpolated signals is corrected by a horizontal aperture circuit, while vertical contour is corrected by a vertical aperture circuit in response to outputs of the 6H delay circuit. Horizontal contour correcting signals and vertical contour correcting signals are added by an aperture adding circuit. Meanwhile, color-difference signals have their random noises eliminated by a CNR circuit, and are delayed by another 6H delay circuit and interpolated by a color-difference signal interpolating circuit. The interpolated signals are converted by a color-difference signal converting circuit into color-difference signals which are applied to an encoder. For the 6H delay circuit, n/2 CCD 1H delay lines are employed, which can delay the luminance signals or the color-difference signals by n horizontal scanning periods, so that the delay circuit can be reduced in number.

Image pickup device capable of picking up images while electronically

An image pickup device is capable of picking up images while electrically enlarging the same. In enlarging image pickup, horizontal transfer pulses H.sub.1, H.sub.2, a reset pulse R, a clock signal CLK, sampling pulses SP.sub.1, SP.sub.2 and so on having the periods twice as long as those in the normal image pickup are generated from a horizontal transferring circuit in a timing pulse generating circuit. Thereby, charges stored in a CCD image sensor (6) are horizontally transferred by these signals. A vertical transfer circuit sets vertical transfer pulses V.sub.1 to V.sub.4 at arbitrary timings during 1H of a video period to output the same once in every 2H and outputs high speed vertical transfer pulses in two periods in a vertical blanking period and outputs a reading pulse TG between the first high speed vertical transfer period and the next high speed vertical transfer period. The charges stored in the CCD image sensor are then transferred in the vertical direction in response to these signals. Consequently, a selected area of the screen of the normal image pickup can be enlarged and picked up.
