An image forming method and its apparatus are disclosed. The method comprises exposing a light-sensitive silver halide photographic material having a support and hydrophilic colloid layers provided on both sides of the support and developing the exposed material with a developing solution without immersing it in the developing solution. The apparatus comprises (a) a pair of rollers for transporting the material in a downward direction and (b) a pair of nozzles for feeding the developing solution to both sides of the material, the nozzles being provided above the rollers.

Image forming method and apparatus

A method of developing a silver halide photographic material is disclosed. The method comprises a step of supplying a developer to a surface of an exposed silver halide photographic material, which is transferred by at least one pair of rollers, intermittently at least twice wherein an interval time of each supplying is not more than 10 seconds and the amount of developer retained in the light-sensitive material ranges from 50 to 250 ml/m.sup.2 . The method provides a compact developing system, which is free from uneven development with good grainess of the image.

The invention provides a toner recovery apparatus, wherein toner on the surface of photoreceptor is removed by a cleaning device and collected in a container. The image forming apparatus includes a stationary member having a toner inlet end and an opposite end. The toner recovery apparatus comprises a driving device for reciprocatingly moving the container along the stationary member. Bumper means are fixed to the stationary member for colliding with the container when the container moves towards the opposite end for applying negative acceleration to stop the movement of the container.

A multicolor image forming apparatus wherein a plurality of developing devices for forming a multicolor image are integrally supported by a support member which can be inserted into and withdrawn from an apparatus body, and a plurality of resupply devices for replenishing toner particles are mounted on each of the developing devices. A deflecting device for a sheet sorter includes a sheet receiving and transporting assembly having a conveyor system for receiving recording sheets and for transporting the sheets to a collating device, and a main sheet tray overlying the conveyor system. A deflector disposed at an inlet end of the receiving and transporting assembly is movable between a first position in which an upper plate of the deflector forms a continuation of the main tray and sheets are directed onto the main tray, and a second position in which sheets are directed by a lower plate of the deflector to the conveyor system for transport to the collating device. The deflector is connected by a force regenerative device to a control assembly for moving the same between its first and second positions so that when the control assembly firmly and positively shifts between those positions--and the deflector, in conjunction with the main tray, is supporting a sufficiently weighty load of sheets to interfere with its normal movement--the deflector is not positionally shifted until the interfering load is removed from the main tray. Upon such removal, the force regenerative device causes the deflector to be immediately shifted as intended.
