Catalysts for water gas shift reaction, method for removing carbon monoxide in hydrogen gas and electric power-generating system of fuel cell

A catalyst for removing carbon monoxide (CO) in a hydrogen rich gas according to a water gas shift reaction is provided, which is characterized in that platinum and rhenium are supported on rutile titania as a support. This catalyst provides a high CO conversion at a relatively low reaction temperature between 200&deg; C. and 300&deg; C. and is excellent in cost/performance due to a reduction in amount of supported platinum. It is preferred that a weight ratio of an amount of supported platinum to an amount of supported rhenium is in a range of 3:1 to 1:1, and particularly 3:2. In addition, when the catalyst is produced by supporting rhenium first and then platinum on the support, the catalyst performance can be remarkably improved.

Catalyst for removing carbon monoxide in hydrogen rich gas and production method therefor

A portable power generating system can be operated by using a portable pressure canister containing a liquefied butane fuel gas. In the power generating system, a part of the butane gas contained in the pressure canister is used as a fuel gas and reminder of the butane gas is used to prepare a reformed gas containing hydrogen gas by reaction with water. The hydrogen gas in the reformed gas and oxygen gas in air are used in a fuel cell to generate electric power. The power generating system is characterized in a compact portable one which further comprises a device for regulating the amount of the butane gas discharged from said pressure canister and a device for controlling a flow rate of the butane gas, installed in feed lines of supplying the butane gas from said pressure canister to said reforming device.

An aluminum nitride (AlN) sintered product with a high thermal conductivity of 120 W/m.multidot.k or above can be produced at a relatively low sintering temperature of 1650.degree. C. or below in accordance with the following process of the present invention. That is, an A1N powder having a specific surface in a region of about 3.5 to 8 m.sup.2 /g and an oxygen content between 0.5 to 1.8 wt % is mixed with optimum additive amounts of sintering aids (I) to (III) to obtain a mixture powder. The sintering aid (I) is at least one selected from the group consisting of rare earth oxides and rare earth compounds which are converted to corresponding rare earth oxides by the sintering. The sintering aid (II) is at least one selected from the group consisting of alkaline earth oxides and alkaline earth compounds which are converted to corresponding alkaline earth oxides by the sintering. The sintering aid (III) is at least one selected from the group consisting of LAB.sub.6, NbC, and WB. The optimum additive amount of LaB.sub.6 is in a range of 0.05 to 3 wt % of the A1N sintered product. The mixture powder is compacted, and then sintered at the sintering temperature in a non-oxidation atmosphere to obtain the A1N sintered product.

Process for producing an aluminum nitride sintered product

A process for producing aluminum nitride powders is disclosed, which comprises mixing a water-soluble aluminum-containing compound or an aluminum alkoxide and a water-soluble carbon-containing compound and/or a water-soluble nitrogen-containing compound, with water; drying the mixture to obtain a solid; and calcining the solid in a nitrogen-containing non-oxidative atmosphere. According to the process of the invention, high-purity uniform aluminum nitride fine powders can be obtained rapidly and inexpensively.
