A photoconductor for electrophotography with excellent resistance against oxidation has a charge transport layer which contains at least two kinds of oxidants and at least one charge transport material. The charge transport material is at least one selected from the group consisting of charge transport materials represented by general formulas (Ia) and (Ib). One oxidant is an antioxidant represented by general formula (II). The second oxidant is at least one selected from the group consisting of phenolic antioxidants, thioether antioxidants, phosphorus containing antioxidants excluding the triphenylphosphorus antioxidants, and amine antioxidants.

A photoconductor for electrophotography comprises a substrate and a photosensitive layer formed thereon and including a novel hydrazone compound as a charge transporting substance. The hydrazone compound is represented by the following general formula: ##STR1## Wherein, A is selected from the residual group consisting of an aromatic residual group, a condensed polycyclic residual group, and a heterocyclic residual group, which groups may be or not may be substituted, R.sub.1 is selected from the atom or group consisting of any one of a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group, an acyl group or a dialkylamino group, and each of R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 is selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group, an aryl group, an alkenyl group, an aralkyl group and a thenyl group, which groups may be or not may be substituted.

A photoconductor for electrophotography comprises an electroconductive substrate and a photosensitive layer formed thereon and including a novel compound as a charge transporting substance. This compound is represented by the following general formula: ##STR1## wherein, R1 is selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group and an alkoxy group, each of R2 and R3 is selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group, an aryl group and a heterocyclic group, the last two groups of which may be substituted and n is an integer of 1 or 2.

The photosensitive layer includes a novel azo compound as a charge generating substance therein. One example of the azo compound is represented by general formula: ##STR1## wherein A stands for a coupler residue, and each of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 is one of a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group and an alkoxy group.

A photoconductor for electrophotography comprises a novel organic compound as a charge transporting substance. The organic compounds is represented by the following general formula: ##STR1## wherein, each of R.sub.1 to R.sub.4 stands for a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkoxy group, or an alkyl group, an aryl group, an alkenyl group, an aralkyl group, a thienyl group, each of which may have a substituent(s).
