An object of the present invention is to attain stable tracking servo performance by suppressing an offset caused by a shift of an object lens or a tilt of a disk, despite the one-beam method which does not cause reduction in light quantity of the main beam. A diffraction grating is provided between a hologram and a light receiving section, and a diffraction efficiency of the diffraction grating is varied in a grating longitudinal direction. For example, if an incident light beam on the diffraction grating is shifted in the grating longitudinal direction, the quantity of received light in each light receiving section varies to cause offset. By performing tracking servo so as to cancel the change, it is possible to correct the offset, thereby attaining stable tracking servo performance.

An optical pickup can be provided, the optical pickup being capable of recording and playback of a plurality of optical disks having different specs by using light beams of different wavelengths, and further being suitable for integrating the semiconductor lasers and light receiving elements into a single package, by including: first and second semiconductor lasers adjacently disposed; a three-beam diffraction grating for generating three beams for tracking control; a second hologram element for diffracting light of the second semiconductor laser to guide it to a photosensor; a complex polarization beam splitter (PBS) for reflecting only light from the first semiconductor laser; and a first hologram element for diffracting light of the first semiconductor laser to guide it to the photosensor.

An object of the invention is to provide a method of manufacturing a microlens array and a projection-type liquid crystal display apparatus which can increase the efficiency of use of light, facilitate a method of manufacturing a microlens array and reduce the cost of equipment. By an operation of only irradiating a first lens with parallel light which has an intensity distribution corresponding to the shape of a second lens and irradiating an ultraviolet curing resin layer with transmission light, the first and second lenses are placed with a high alignment accuracy in a mutual positional relation thereof. Method of microlens array and projection type of liquid crystal display apparatus

A method for manufacturing a micro-lens array substrate according to the present invention includes the steps of: (1) disposing a stamper having a first micro-lens array pattern formed on one surface of the stamper and a second micro-lens array pattern formed on other surface of the stamper between a first transparent substrate and a second transparent substrate facing each other; and (2) removing the stamper, after forming micro-lens arrays which are made of first and second light transmitting resins respectively between the first transparent substrate and the stamper and between the second transparent substrate and the stamper, so as to fix a third light transmitting resin between the two micro-lens arrays, thereby manufacturing a micro-lens array substrate. This eliminates the need for adjustment of optical axes of the micro-lens arrays which are formed respectively on the first and second transparent substrates, thus simplifying the steps for the manufacture of a micro-lens array substrate and realizing efficient mass production of a micro-lens array substrate with a high degree of accuracy.
