A fibrous support for immobilizing enzymes and cells is prepared as a roll formed by winding a braid on a tubular frame member. The braid is formed in a tubular shape with a plurality of rovings containing very thin long filaments. The roll is formed by cross-winding of the braid to crush intersecting portions of the tubular braid flat. The roll of braid has an external void ratio of 15 to 30%. The thin long filaments of the tubular braid are obtained by spinning a mixture of polymers to form a plurality of fibers containing a soluble component and an insoluble component, joining the fibers to form a roving, forming a tubular braid from a plurality of the rovings and washing the braid to dissolve out the soluble component to produce separated thin long filaments of the insoluble component.

A garment measuring device comprises a standard body resembling a human body and a plurality of contact pieces of curved planes provided with a sensor for detecting the contact pressure exerted by the garment and protrusibly disposed at necessary positions of the standard body. With this device, measurement of a given garment is effected by putting the garment on the standard body, allowing the contact pieces to protrude from the standard body until they reach the garment, and calculating the sizes of the garment on the basis of the amounts of protrusion of the contact pieces.

Disclosed is a method and apparatus for knitting patterns with a circular knitting machine provided with an annular array of knitting needles and groups of needle actuators. Pattern signals in binary notation are read out of a memory device and written into first one and then the other of a pair of counter stages. While pattern signals for a given course of knitting are being read out from one counter stage and forwarded to the corresponding actuators, pattern signals for the next course of knitting are written into the other counter stage from the memory device. The pattern signals alternately read out from first one and then the other counter stage are forwarded to the corresponding actuators by means of selection circuits to thereby produce a knit fabric having a continuous colored pattern.
