A method including processing electrocardiograph (ECG) signals taken over a heartbeat received over a plurality of channels, selecting a subset of the ECG signals captured at a point in time with a window of interest (WOI) around reference annotations and having a morphology pattern within the WOI, storing the morphology patterns, receiving continuous sets of ECG signals taken over a plurality of heartbeats over the plurality of channels and having a morphology pattern within the WOI, performing a correlation between the stored morphology patterns of the ECH signals and the morphology patterns of the continuous sets of ECH signals for each heartbeat, generating a correlation coefficient that is a measure of a goodness of fit between geometries of the ECG signals and the continuous sets of ECG signals and identifying each heartbeat having a correlation coefficient that exceeds a threshold coefficient as having been caused by an arrhythmia.

Identifying ECG signals having the same morphology

One embodiment includes a cardiac ablation system, including an ablation probe including at least one ablation application element to ablate tissue in a chamber of a heart of a living subject, a tracking module to track a position of the at least one ablation application element within the heart, a memory to store a map of the chamber of the heart and store a different, respective default ablation-parameter set for each different region of the chamber, and processing circuitry to segment the map of the chamber into the different regions, receive a user input indicative of commencement of an ablation procedure, identify, responsively to the tracked position, a region of the chamber with which the at least one ablation application element is in contact, retrieve the respective default ablation-parameter set assigned to the identified region, and apply the retrieved default ablation-parameter set in controlling the ablation procedure.

Cardiac map segmentation

Acquiring ECG signals from electrodes positioned in a heart taken over a single heartbeat, selecting a morphology pattern within a window of interest around time of occurrence annotations for the signals; computing a weighted cross-correlation between each morphology pattern of the signals and a stored template morphology pattern, to generate a weighted correlation coefficient of a match between the morphology patterns of the acquired signals and the stored morphology pattern; iteratively changing a phase of the signals relative to the phase of the morphology pattern and repeating the step of generating the weighted correlation coefficient at each iteration; determining a maximum value of the weighted correlation coefficient based on the iterations; comparing the maximum value to a threshold; and when the maximum value exceeds the threshold, accepting the heartbeat as having been caused by the arrhythmia and incorporating a location of the arrhythmia into a local activation map.

A method for improving visualization of at least a catheter in an organ of a patient, the method includes displaying a map of the organ, and at least a first visual marker overlaid on the map. A position, falling within the map, of a distal end of the catheter is received. Displayed on the map are (i) the distal end of the catheter in accordance with the received position, and (ii) instead of the first visual marker, at least a second visual marker, which increases visibility of at least one of the map and the distal end, relative to the first visual marker.

Controlling appearance of displayed markers for improving catheter and tissue visibility

A method includes receiving locations of multiple ablation sites formed on a surface of a heart. Distances are measured among at least some of the ablation sites based on the locations. One or more gaps between the ablation sites, which meet an alerting criterion, are identified. The identified gaps are indicated to an operator.

Identification and visualization of gaps between cardiac ablation sites

A method, including selecting an initial set of electrocardiograph (ECG) signals taken over a single heartbeat of a human subject, the set having respective morphologies to be used as a template for an arrhythmia of the subject, and receiving a subsequent set of ECG signals taken over a subsequent heartbeat of the human subject. The method also includes performing a cross-correlation between the initial set and the subsequent set, so as to generate a correlation coefficient that is a measure of a goodness of fit between geometries of the initial set and the subsequent set, and, when the correlation coefficient exceeds a threshold coefficient, accepting the subsequent heartbeat as having been caused by the arrhythmia.

A method for performing a medical procedure includes bringing a probe into contact with an organ in a body of a patient. A map of the organ is displayed, and the location of the probe relative to the map is tracked. A therapy is applied via the probe at multiple tissue sites in the organ with which the probe is brought into contact. Stability of the contact between the probe and the tissue sites is assessed while applying the therapy. The map is automatically marked, responsively to the assessed stability, to indicate the tissue sites at which the therapy was applied.
