Disinfectant applicator device with contoured roller

A device and a method of making and using the device for preventing sedimentation of airborne particles on a surface. The device includes a pad comprising with top surface, where openings are formed in the top surface, where a plurality of nozzle is situated in the openings such that a portion of the nozzle is an outlet for directing a stream of gas in an essentially perpendicular direction away from the top surface. The device also includes a hose connected to the nozzle such that the hose supplies the nozzles in the pad with the gas and a conditioning source that brings the gas into the hose after cleaning it. The flow requirements are automatically adjusted by the system (e.g., based on characteristics of the particle load).

An applicator device, system and method for use with an exsanguination tourniquet are disclosed. The applicator device includes a body with a proximal end and a distal end, a first opening at the proximal end, and a conduit connecting the proximal end and the distal end. The system includes the applicator device and an exsanguination device. The method of applying an exsanguination tourniquet over a patient's limb, includes selecting an applicator device and correspondingly sized exsanguination tourniquet, placing the exsanguination tourniquet over the applicator device, placing the applicator device over the patient's limb, and rolling the exsanguination tourniquet over the applicator device and a portion of the patient's limb from the distal end of the limb.

Applicator device and method of use for exsanguination tourniquet

The present invention discloses a system, method, and computer program product for determining an optimal compressive pressure of an exsanguination tourniquet and an exsanguination tourniquet, system, and method of assembly. The method includes obtaining at least one parameter related to a tourniquet material, at least one parameter related to the tourniquet positioning, and identifying information comprising a description of at least one component of the tourniquet, selecting program instructions for execution by the processor, determining a compressive pressure of the tourniquet by executing selected program instructions, and determining if the compressive pressure of the tourniquet is optimized.

Method and system for optimization of an exsanguination tourniquet

The exsanguination tourniquet includes a constricting member and at least one sleeve removably coupled to the constricting member. The system includes the exsanguination tourniquet and an applicator device. The method of assembling includes obtaining a constricting member, obtaining at least one sleeve, and wrapping the at least one sleeve around the constricting member.

Disclosed is a device for exsanguinating a portion of an extremity, the device comprising a torus having a variable circumferential diameter, the torus configured to encircle an extremity portion and apply exsanguination pressure thereto, and a transducer operatively associated with the torus, the transducer, while the torus is encircling the extremity portion, being configured to control at least one of a diameter of the variable circumferential diameter, a tension in the torus and a pressure applied by the torus.

Mobile torus devices

A device for detecting and counting coughing events is provided. In one embodiment a sensor for sensing and transducing low frequency and high frequency mechanical vibrations, sends signals to a coincidence detector that determines if high and low signals coincide. In another embodiment, ultrasonic energy is introduced to the trachea and if Doppler shift in frequency is detected, association is made to a coughing event. In another embodiment a change in the impedance of the neck is considered associated with coughing event if correlated over time with a specific mechanical frequency sensed.

Cough detector

Disclosed is a device for exsanguinating a portion of an extremity. The device comprises an elastic torus configured to ensanguine a limb when surrounding an extremity and pulled at a first linear rate in a first direction; and at least one elongate attachment element mechanically coupled to the torus to convey pulling force from the handle to the torus, wherein the a length of the elongate attachment element between the handle and the torus elongates at a different rate than the first rate, during the pulling.

Tourniquet timer

A non-invasive method and apparatus for monitoring of the function of the heart and lungs in vulnerable patients. An analysis of the activity of the heart is made in correspondence to the respiratory system. Using the method of the invention, precise tracking of the changes of the mutual heart-lung interactions cycle are made, enabling better definitions of heart conditions. Within breath variability factor is introduced for tracking heart condition. Failing heart assisting methods and improved diagnostic methods are facilitated using the monitoring system of the invention.

Acoustic assessment of the heart

A method and apparatus for determining the air pressure in a lung comprises making a determination of the velocity of sound in the lung and estimating the pressure within the lung based on the determined velocity. The method also includes determining a difference in phase for sound between two positions with respect to the lung.

A method of differentiating between OSA and CSA comprising: determining if chest motion above a chest motion threshold is present; determining if tracheal breath sound above a breath sounds threshold are present, classifying a state as OSA if the chest motion is above the threshold and the sounds are below the threshold; and classifying a state as CSA if both the chest motion and sounds are below their respective thresholds.

Determination of Apnea type

A method of analyzing breath sounds produced by a respiratory system, the method comprising: measuring breath sounds produced by the respiratory system; tentatively identifying a signal as being caused by a breath sound of a given type if it meets a first criteria characteristic of the breath sound of the given type; and confirming said identification if a tentatively identified signal meets a second criteria characteristic of the breath sound of the given type.

Phonopneumograph system

A phonopneumograph system for analyzing breath sounds includes a plurality of breath related sensors placed around the respiratory system of a patient for measuring breath related activity and a breath analyzer. The breath analyzer matches the breath sound data produced by the breath related sensors to a plurality of breath sound templates each of which parametrize one type of breath sound and determines the presence of regular and/or adventitious breath sounds only when the breath sound data matches, within predetermined goodness of fit criteria, one or more of the breath sound templates.
