A method and apparatus are provided for modeling circulation in a living subject. The method includes the steps of developing a model for living subjects in general and correcting the model to substantially conform to the overall cerebral physiology of the living subject. The method further includes the step of calculating a cerebral flow of the living subject based upon the corrected model and a selected cerebral blood flow perturbation.

Patient specific circulation model

A method and apparatus are provided for finding a fluid conduit of a human body within a set of images collected over a portion of a cardiac cycle and where each image of the set of images is formed by a plurality of image elements. The method includes the steps of selecting a reference image element within the fluid conduit from the plurality of image elements, determining a velocity profile of each of the image elements over the cardiac cycle and identifying the fluid conduit by correlating the velocity profile of the reference element with velocity profiles at least some of the other image elements.

Method of measuring intracranial pressure

A method and apparatus are provided for measuring intracranial pressure. The method includes the steps of measuring arterial inflow, venous outflow and cranial spinal fluid flow and calculating an intracranial volume change from the measured arterial inflow, venous outflow and cranial spinal fluid flow. The method also includes the steps of calculating a pressure gradient of spinal fluid flow from the measured cranial spinal fluid flow and calculating a pressure change per unit volume change based upon the calculated intracranial volume change and cranial pressure gradient.
