An entry control apparatus includes a pair of spaced barriers forming a pathway therebetween. The barriers are positioned adjacent a doorway to control ingress into and egress from a building or the like. An arm is pivotally mounted and extends across the pathway and permits free movement of people in one direction and selectively restricts movement in the other direction. A motion sensor is provided and a motion control system is associated with the sensor. The sensor and motion control system cooperate to selectively allow the arm to move to a normally open position for normal traffic in an approved direction. In the event a person approaches the apparatus, as if to exit, or move in the wrong direction through the pathway, the sensor detects the movement and effects operation of the motion control system that locks the arm against movement to prevent movement through the passageway. An alarm system can be provided to alert personnel that an unauthorized movement through the pathway may be underway.

Entrance control system

An apparatus for cooking a food item therein is disclosed. The apparatus has a housing defining an interior and includes at least first and second opposed walls. A rotating member is positioned between the first and second walls of the housing, and the rotating member is capable of engaging and rotating the food item. A drive mechanism is mounted on the apparatus for rotating the rotating member. A heating element is positioned adjacent the second wall of the housing, and a blackbody radiator is positioned between the rotating member and the heating element. The heating element heats a first side of the blackbody radiator and a second side of the blackbody radiator emits radiation in a highly effective wavelength spectrum toward the food item. The apparatus also includes a self cleaning system for cleaning the interior.

Cooking apparatus and method therefor

An apparatus for cooking a food item therein has a housing defining an interior and includes at least first and second opposed walls. A rotating member is positioned between the first and second walls of the housing, and the rotating member is capable of engaging and rotating the food item. A drive mechanism is mounted on the apparatus for rotating the rotating member. A heating element is positioned adjacent the second wall of the housing, and a blackbody radiator is positioned between the rotating member and the heating element. The heating element heats a first side of the blackbody radiator and a second side of the blackbody radiator emits radiation in a highly effective wavelength spectrum toward the food item. The apparatus also includes a self cleaning system for cleaning the interior.

An automatically operated steamer for cooking and warming food products is described. The steamer uses three operating thermostatic controls, a housing with a reservoir in the bottom thereof, and an electrical heat source disposed below said reservoir to heat the same. When cold water is admitted to the reservoir a thermostat closes to generate heat to warm the water and as the water warms, the flow of the water into the reservoir ceases. When the reservoir water reaches a temperature slightly above its boiling point, a second thermostat operates to control the temperature to keep the water boiling until it completely evaporates. When the water evaporates the heat within the device steamer increases, and another thermostat opens at a predetermined elevated temperature to signal for the addition of water to the reservoir. Still another thermostat operates to control the heat generated within said reservoir and steamer at a predetermined level to maintain a heated condition for food being cooked or held, and yet another safety thermostat opens in response to a predetermined elevated temperature to de-energize the electrical heater below the reservoir.

Controlled heat steamer

A heating plate for a food warmer is disclosed. The heating plate has a surface for supporting an article to be heated and a plurality of heating clusters attached to the surface. Each heating cluster has a thermostat and a plurality of heating elements spaced around the thermostat. Each heating element is operably controlled by the thermostat.

Food warmer
