One embodiment of the present invention includes an apparatus for securing a wrapping material around an item, such as a baled agricultural item, the apparatus including a main plate and at least one projection, the projection including a heating element and a height adjustment mechanism, wherein the height adjustment mechanism controls a force applied to the wrapping material by the projection and provides a force for moving the projection.

Method and apparatus for securing baled items

A wrapping material for use with existing wrapping equipment or balers for wrapping bales of agricultural produce or other items are disclosed. The base wrapping material may be a netting, film, or combination thereof. The wrapping material includes a plurality of pre-defined, discrete, spaced-apart adhesive areas disposed on each side of the opposing sides of the wrapping material. The longitudinal spacing of the adhesive areas allows the wrapping material to be rolled onto a roll core so that the discrete spaced-apart adhesive areas contact only non-adhesive areas of the wrapping material thereby forming a first level of adhesion that easily allows the wrapping material to be released and unrolled. When wrapping an item, corresponding discrete adhesive areas come into face-to-face contact thereby forming a second level of adhesion that is stronger than the first level of adhesion.

A composite netting is used for wrapping bales with a baling machine. The composite netting includes a continuous netting component, and a discontinuous, breathable material component. The breathable material component is partially attached to the netting material. In some embodiments, the breathable material is attached only along the leading edge of each breathable material panel. As a result of the attaching technique the stretching properties of the netting are not transferred to the breathable material. Thus, each component of the netting retains its individual properties. Each bale is initially wrapped with about one wrapping of netting material, followed by about one wrapping of breathable material and a partially attached net that is continuous from the first section. After this, one or more additional netting layers may be applied if desired.

Method and material for wrapping items using a wrapping material made up of separate wrapping portions of a predetermined length. The wrapping portions are attached and released at their ends using a Z-lock system including a discrete laminate. The discrete laminate of the Z-lock system holds the wrapping portions together during manufacturing but can also easily release or separate the wrapping portions at a desired point in the wrapping process. The separating of the wrapping portions exposes an adhesive that is use to securely bond at least one wrapping portion to the item being wrapped at the end of a wrapping cycle.

Methods and material for securely wrapping items and providing protection against damage caused by the penetration of moisture or liquids. In particular, the methods and material of the present invention combine the advantages of multiple-material wrapping in a one-step wrapping process by joining the different wrapping segments at their edges to form a continuous wrapping material that can be utilized with existing wrapping technologies.

Method and material for multi-material wrapping of items and a method of making the same

A knitted netting includes longitudinal polyolefin ribbons and lateral polyolefin ribbons knitted with the longitudinal polyolefin ribbons to form knitted netting. The lateral polyolefin ribbons of the knitted netting have an actual shuss length more than 110% of a calculated shuss length for the knitted netting. The actual shuss length being in excess of 110% of the calculated shuss length for the knitted netting prevents transverse shrinkage of the netting.

The chicken coops of this invention are built up of modular parts, the basic element being partitions separating individual cells from one another in which cells egg laying hens are confined. Each such partition has an uppermost edge which extends obliquely relative to one of the vertical edges of the partition and forms an acute angle therewith. The lowermost portion of each partition is wider than the major extension thereof. This outjutting extension serves as support for a conveyor band onto which the eggs roll from the said cells.
