A flight deck system for providing progressive taxiing guidance is provided. The flight deck system comprises a controller configured to: generate a graphical insert to overlay a small portion of an active navigation display, the graphical insert providing a progressive depiction of upcoming travel surfaces on a cleared taxi route. The graphical insert comprises a non-linear map with non-linear scaling, a current travel surface alphanumeric indicator, and a current travel surface stick character representative of a current travel surface. The controller is further configured to position, on the graphical insert, a crossing travel surface sign, a first-turn travel surface stick character, and a second-turn travel surface stick character; update the position of the crossing travel surface sign, the first-turn travel surface stick character, and/or the second-turn travel surface stick character as the aircraft travels; and cause the graphical insert to be displayed as an overlay on the active navigation display.

System and method to provide progressive taxi instructions and alerts on cockpit display

An aircraft collision avoidance system includes a plurality of three-dimensional (3D) light detection and ranging (LIDAR) sensors, a plurality of sensor processors, a plurality of transmitters, and a display device. Each 3D LIDAR sensor is enclosed in an aircraft exterior lighting fixture that is configured for mounting on an aircraft, and is configured to sense objects within its field-of-view and supply sensor data. Each sensor processor receives sensor data and processes the received sensor data to determine locations and physical dimensions of the sensed objects. Each transmitter receives the object data, and is configured to transmit the received object data. The display device receives and fuses the object data transmitted from each transmitter, fuses the object data and selectively generates one or more potential obstacle alerts based on the fused object data.

Lidar-based aircraft collision avoidance system

This disclosure is directed to techniques, methods, devices, and systems for generating a bird and bat detection radar output using weather radar. In one example, a method includes generating, by a computing device that comprises one or more processors and is onboard a vehicle, a radar control output for an aircraft weather radar system to generate a radar transmission tuned to detect birds and bats. The method further includes receiving, by the computing device, radar data in response to the radar transmission. The method further includes determining, by the computing device, whether the radar data comprises data indicative of detected birds or bats. The method further includes generating, by the computing device, an output based at least in part on the data indicative of the detected birds or bats.

Aircraft radar system for bird and bat strike avoidance

Additive Manufacturing Quality Management (AMQM) systems and methods are provided, which enhance quality control across Additive Manufacturing (AM) supply chains from which AM components are obtained. In various embodiments, the AMQM system includes an AM machine utilized to produce AM components in accordance with AM design data. A first sensor is coupled to the AM machine and, during fabrication of AM components by the AM machine, captures sensor readings pertaining to the AM fabrication process. When executed by a processor, computer-executable code causes the AMQM system to: (i) compile part-specific sensor profiles from sensor readings captured by the first sensor during fabrication of the AM components, and (ii) generate user notifications indicating whether remedial action should be performed for any of the AM components based, at least in part, on conformance of the part-specific sensor profiles with a baseline sensor profile corresponding to the AM design data.
