Methods and systems for message notification are described. A video message is received from a source access device. A selection of a target user may be received for the video message. A message notification of availability of the video message for a target access device associated with the target user may be provided.

Method and system for message notification

A system for communicating with an Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network is provided. A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, an intermediate node having a controller element to receive from a non IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) compliant node a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) message having a calling party number and a called party number, and insert in the SIP message a request that instructs a receiving IMS-compliant node to bypass validation of the calling party number. Additional embodiments are disclosed.

System for communicating with an internet protocol multimedia subsystem network

A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, system having a controller to receive from a set-top box (STB) a request for assistance, identify a subscriber account associated with the STB, identify from the subscriber account a subscription grade, select one of a plurality of subscriber support services according to the subscriber grade, and establish communications between the STB and the selected subscriber support service. System and method for presenting support services

System(s) and method(s) are provided for prioritizing protocol messages received at a server. A client generates a request message and incorporates a data unit therein in order to indicate type of service application that triggered generation of the request message. The client conveys the request message to a server configured to respond to the request message. To supply data in response to the message request, the server prioritizes the request message based at least on the data unit that conveys the type of service application. The server can assign a set of request messages to a group of scheduling queues based at least on ranking of the type of service associated with at least one request message in the set of request messages. Based on performance conditions, the server also can reject one or more request messages according to the ranking.

Prioritization of protocol messages at a server

A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a method for receiving initial filter criteria from a home subscriber server, transmitting information obtained from the initial filter criteria to a domain name system, receiving a multicast IP address from the domain name system, and transmitting a message to a plurality of IP multimedia subsystem network elements according to the multicast IP address. The message can be used for configuring the plurality of IP multimedia subsystem network elements. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Method and apparatus for configuring IP multimedia subsystem network elements

A method includes receiving a call setup signaling message at a subject line messaging application server. The call setup signaling message includes a subject header. The subject header includes a message identifier that corresponds to a subject line message selected by a caller device. The method includes replacing the message identifier with the subject line message to form a modified call setup signaling message when a removal determination indicates that the subject header should remain. The method also includes sending the modified call setup signaling message to a called party device via a server.

Systems and methods for transmitting subject line messages

A system and methodology that facilitates improving performance of a Home Subscriber Server (HSS) during overload conditions, by embedding a unique Application Session Identifier (app session ID) within multiple requests associated with a single call processing session is provided. Moreover, the system includes an overload protection component that identifies whether an incoming request is associated with previously processed requests based in part of the app session ID embedded within the incoming request. When the HSS is overloaded, the incoming requests that initiate a new call processing session and are not associated with previously processed requests are rejected/dropped before incoming requests that are associated with requests that have been previously processed.

A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may utilize, for example, a method involving receiving from a first communication device a service request while providing back-up services to an out-of-service network element, detecting a deficiency in call state information to process the service request, transmitting to the first communication device an error message that prevents termination of an active Internet Protocol (IP) communication path between the first communication device and a second communication device, and receiving from the first communication device a request for an alternate IP communication path for communicating between the first and second communication devices which resolves the deficiency in call state information. A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a network element operably couplable to an Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem network where the network element has a controller to receive an SIP request associated with a call, determine whether the SIP request comprises an identifier associated with an Emergency Call Session Control Function (E-CSCF) where the identifier was added to the SIP request by the E-CSCF, and provide the call to an emergency network when the identifier is associated with the E-CSCF. Apparatus and method for managing emergency calls

A method of determining demand for multimedia content in a multimedia provider network includes receiving a content demand statistics (CDS) request from a client application where the request identifies a subscriber set. Responsive to the CDS request, selected CDS data is retrieved from a CDS subsystem. The CDS data is indicative of demand for multimedia content among subscribers in the subscriber set. The retrieved CDS data is delivered to the client application. The selected data may be selected from past data, present data, and future data. The CDS request indicates a set of buddy subscribers and the messaging server retrieves CDS data associated with the buddy subscribers. A security subsystem may be accessed and to determine, prior to retrieving CDS data for a particular buddy subscriber, whether the particular buddy subscriber has authorized the requesting subscriber.
