Devices for implanting inside an eye and for holding an intraocular lens (IOL) are presented; the device being operable to rotate the IOL, around an optical axis of the IOL, by absorbing energy from a remote energy source; the device comprises: a stator portion configured to be fixedly positioned inside the lens capsule of the eye; a rotor portion configured to be fixedly attached to the IOL; and a movement system operable to cause rotation of the rotor portion and the IOL, the movement system comprises a plurality of actuators and at least one interaction region associated with the plurality of actuators, the plurality of actuators comprise at least two actuators operable to cause the rotation of the rotor portion and the IOL in each of the clockwise and counterclockwise angular directions, the plurality of actuators and the at least one interaction region being aligned such that at each given moment in time, each actuator of the plurality of actuators is aligned differently with respect to the interaction region associated therewith, and is configured, when being activated by said remote energy source, to engage with the associated interaction region to cause the IOL to rotate with a different incremental rotation having either a different angular distance or a different angular direction; the device may comprise a protective shielding assembly that seals the moving parts from invading biological tissue.

Intraocular lens holding devices

An apparatus for use in tissue removal from a body organ is presented. The apparatus comprises a hand-held probe device, a rotating motor device and a connection assembly configured for removably interconnecting between the hand-held probe device and the rotating motor device. The hand-held probe device is disposable and comprises a housing having proximal and distal ends, a rotatable cutting tool extending distally from the distal end of the housing and being configured for cutting and removing tissue during rotation, and a transmission assembly passing inside the housing between the proximal and distal ends and being configured for transmitting rotational power to the rotatable cutting tool. The connection assembly is configured for engaging between the rotating motor device and the transmission assembly to thereby controllably rotate the cutting tool and remove tissue. In some embodiments, the apparatus includes a control unit for controlling operation of the apparatus, the control unit comprises an activation mechanism for activating the rotatable cutting tool, and a controller configured for operating the activation mechanism to generate a single fixed activation signal of a known intensity and duration during a predetermined time interval, thereby restricting operation of the cutting tool during the time interval to the single activation signal only.

Apparatus for tissue removal

Medical devices and methods for removing a predetermined portion of soft tissue from a target tissue layer, thereby creating a channel between two side walls of the target tissue layer, are described. The medical device is a cutting tool comprising: an elongated round body extending along a longitudinal axis and having a uniform outer cross-section at a proximal side thereof; a cutting portion at a distal side of the elongated body, comprising at a distal end thereof a cutting edge of a first cross-section being smaller than said outer cross-section, and a distally and continuously decreasing outer cross-section; and a chamber extending along the longitudinal axis inside the cutting tool from said cutting portion, the chamber having dimensions enabling storing of the removed soft tissue portion inside the chamber thereby providing a validation to the channel creation.

Device and method for creating a channel in soft tissue

Medical devices and methods for removing a predetermined shape of soft tissue from a target tissue layer, thereby leaving a matching channel with predetermined geometry and orientation in the target tissue layer, are described. The medical device comprises coaxial outer and inner elongated members extending along axis X; said outer member comprises an open distal side and a first distal part configured for sticking to said target tissue layer during forward axial movement; said inner member comprises a second distal part configured to rotate and project distally through said open distal side to cut said predetermined shape of the soft tissue from the target tissue layer and create said channel formed as a hole across the target tissue layer.

Lens support structure for supporting an intraocular lens (IOL) is provided, the lens support structure being configured and operable to be securely implanted in a lens capsule of a human eye and hold the IOL in one of a plurality of positions, the support structure comprising a repositioning assembly configured and operable to be activated remotely by a remote energy source and controllably displace the IOL in at least one of directions along and around an optical axis of the IOL, thereby enabling moving the IOL between the plurality of positions. Lens control system is also provided, the control system comprising the lens support structure and a source energy for activating parts thereof. Intraocular lens system is also provided, the system comprising the lens support structure and a lens integrated therein.

Intraocular lens system

The present disclosure provides medical devices for creating a channel in a biological soft tissue. The devices comprise an integral rotatable tool formed by an elongated distal member and a proximal shaft, the elongated member having a distal end portion and a proximal end portion, the distal end portion comprising a tissue piercing tip of a pyramid-like shape, and the proximal end portion comprising an elongated prism-like portion having at least three surfaces and respective prism edges, with at least one of the prism edges between the surfaces being configured as a tissue cutting blade, and the proximal shaft interfacing and extending from the prism-like portion and having a cross section larger than a cross section of the prism-like portion at the interface. In some embodiments, the device comprises an intermediate portion extending between the distal end portion and the proximal end portion and having a frustum shape, thereby forming a smooth transition between a base portion of the tissue piercing tip and the proximal end portion.
