A cable retractor includes a frame having first and second frame ends, opposing frame walls between the frame ends, and a track extending along one of the frame walls. A block slides along the track. A single first pulley is coupled to the block, is rotatable about a first axis that moves together with the block, is the sole pulley that is rotatable about the first axis, and has only a single groove. A spring spool is mounted at the first frame end. A spring has a coiled part wound around the spring spool and has a segment that extends away from the coiled part and is coupled to the block. A single second pulley is disposed at the second frame end, is rotatable about a fixed second axis, is the sole pulley that is rotatable about the second axis, and has only a single groove.

A cable retractor includes a frame having first and second frame ends, opposing frame walls between the frame ends, and a track extending along one of the frame walls. A block slides along the track. A single first pulley is coupled to the block and is rotatable about a first axis that moves together with the block, the first pulley being the sole pulley that is rotatable about the first axis. A spring spool is mounted at the first frame end. A spring has a coiled part wound around the spring spool and has a segment that extends away from the coiled part and is coupled to the block. A single second pulley is disposed at the second frame end and is rotatable about a fixed second axis, the second pulley being the sole pulley that is rotatable about the second axis.

The swivel mount assembly includes an insertable part inserted into an opening in a structure and a lip part. A securing body secures the assembly body to a surface of the structure. A rotatable body includes another insertable part inserted into an opening in the insertable part of the assembly body, a plate part, side walls with at least one side aperture, and a platform part. At least one first roller directs a cable extending through an opening in the another insertable part into a volume between the plate part and the platform part. At least one second roller directs a further cable through the at least one side aperture. A cable retractor includes a frame. An intermediate storage section of the cable or further cable is ordinarily disposed within the frame.

A swivel mount assembly for rotational mounting of an electronic device to a mounting structure includes a rotatable body inserted, in part, into an opening in the mounting structure and rotatable about an axis extending through the mounting structure opening. A plate part above the mounting structure has an opening that opens into the mounting structure opening. A sidewall is joined at one end to the plate part and has a side aperture formed therein. A roller is disposed in the opening in the plate part and directs a cable extending through the opening in the mounting structure to further pass through the side aperture. A hold/release mechanism, disposed above the plate part, holds the cable and prevents its movement when the hold/release mechanism is in a first setting, and releases the cable and permits its movement when the hold/release mechanism is in a second setting.

A step joint between two plastic pieces suitable for an ultrasonic weld joint. A first plastic piece includes a series of ribs, each rib having generally horizontal top surface. A generally vertical section extends upward behind the ribs. A second plastic piece includes a generally horizontal section for mating with the ribs, the horizontal section of the second plastic piece covering the generally horizontal section of two or more ribs. The second plastic piece also includes a generally vertical section suitable for mating with the generally vertical section of the second plastic piece. A plastic assembly according to another aspect of the present invention includes the first plastic piece and the second plastic piece, a joint between the first and second plastic pieces formed by an abutment between the generally horizontal surface of the second plastic piece and the top surface of the one or more ribs, and between the generally vertical surface of the second plastic piece and the strip of the second plastic piece, and a weld between the first plastic piece and the second plastic piece formed by melted plastic from a partial melt of the first plastic piece and the second plastic piece, the melted plastic flowing into the joint between the first plastic piece and the second plastic piece and hardening to form the weld.

Methods and apparatus for producing ultrasonic weld joints for injection molded plastic parts

A fastener for detachably coupling a housing, such as a battery pack, to an appliance, such as a wireless terminal, is disclosed. In use, the fastener is disposed in a housing. When a user applies a force to the fastener to release the housing from the appliance, the fastener rotates about an axis, causing an engagement feature of the fastener to rotate away from the appliance, thereby decoupling the fastener from the appliance. The fastener includes a biasing member which provides a restoring force that keeps the fastener coupled to the appliance in the absence of a decoupling force. In some embodiments, the fastener includes various features suitable for reducing stress that accumulates in the biasing member as it rotates during decoupling. Such features include a stress-reducing surface, and an offset between the stress-reducing surface and the axis of rotation.
