This disclosure provides techniques for managing antenna sharing on a multi-mode wireless device between coexisting cellular and WLAN modems operating on the same band. One of the modems can communicate a WLAN scanning parameter to another one of the modems, and the distribution of shared antennas between the cellular modem and the WLAN modem may be modified based at least in part on the communicated scanning parameter to accommodate a WLAN scan on channels in the shared band. The distribution of the shared antennas between the modems for the WLAN scan may additionally or alternatively be selected based at least in part on the source of a detected WLAN scanning trigger (e.g., whether the scan is triggered by an application of the wireless device or the WLAN modem of the wireless device).

This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus for antenna switching. In one embodiment, a wireless communication apparatus is provided. The wireless communication apparatus includes a plurality of antennas including a first antenna and a second antenna. A systems, methods and apparatus including a plurality of antennas are provided. The antenna system includes a first antenna, a second antenna, and a measurement device. The measurement device is configured to measure at least a first complex value indicative of an impedance matching of the first antenna and a second complex value indicative of an impedance matching of the second antenna. The antenna system includes an antenna selection controller configured to select one of the first antenna and the second antenna. The antenna selection controller making the selection based on the measurement of the first complex value of the first antenna and the measurement of the second complex value of the second antenna.

This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus for an initial network acquisition process via multiple antennas. In one aspect a method of establishing communications via a wireless network at a wireless communications apparatus is provided. The method includes attempting an initial acquisition process, over one or more frequencies, for establishing communications over the wireless network via a transmit circuit and a receive circuit transmitting and receiving via a first antenna. The method further includes switching the transmit circuit and the receive circuit from transmitting and receiving via the first antenna to a second antenna in response to detecting failure of the initial acquisition process. The switching is independent of a performance metric of the first or the second antenna. The method further includes re-attempting the initial acquisition process based on the switching to the second antenna over the one or more frequencies.

Devices, methods, and systems for antenna switching based on look-back

Aspects of the methods and apparatus relate to improving the overall decision quality of the Fractional-Dedicated Physical Channel (F-DPCH) channel. One aspect of the methods and apparatus relates to detecting bad channel conditions of a serving base station and improving the serving base station F-DPCH decoding performance in such bad conditions based on the serving base station signal-to interference ratio (SIR) estimation. Another aspect of the methods and apparatus relate to improving the overall decision quality of the F-DPCH channel in soft handover (HO) scenarios by increasing the non-serving base station F-DPCH channel rejections thresholds based on certain SIR estimations. The F-DPCH channel rejections thresholds are based on either the SIR of the non-serving base station, or a difference between non-serving base station SIR and serving base station SIR.

Methods and apparatuses for managing one or more radio resources of a multi-subscriber identity module user equipment (UE) are presented. For example, one such method presented by the disclosure may include determining that a wake-up cycle collision condition exists between a first subscription and a second subscription of the UE when the first subscription and second subscription are camped on a same cell. In addition, the example method may include receiving, via a first radio resource of the UE associated with the first subscription, a paging message during a paging block of the cell, wherein a second radio resource of the UE associated with the second subscription is unavailable. Furthermore, the example methodology may include determining, by the first subscription, that the paging message indicates that a page exists for the second subscription and informing the second subscription that the page exists.
