Methods and apparatus in a fifth-generation wireless communications network, including an example method, in a wireless device, that includes determining a reporting quality threshold for a parameter related to channel state information (CSI); performing a measurement for each of a plurality of beams from a first predetermined set of beams for evaluation; evaluating the measurement for each of the plurality of beams against the reporting quality threshold; discontinuing the performing and evaluating of measurements in response to determining that the reporting quality threshold is met for one of the beams, such that one or more beams in the first predetermined set of beams are not measured and evaluated; and reporting, to the wireless communications network, CSI for the one of the beams.

There is disclosed a method of operating a transmitting node in a millimeter-wave communication network. The method includes transmitting millimeter-wave signaling in a transmission timing structure, the transmission timing structure including N time interval elements sequentially ordered in time, the millimeter-wave signaling including N separate signaling structures, each signaling structure being transmitted in a different one of the time interval elements. N is an integer multiple of 2. There is disclosed a method of operating a transmitting node in a millimeter-wave communication network. The method includes transmitting communication signaling in a transmission timing structure, the communication signaling including leading reference signaling in a leading time interval at the beginning of the transmission timing structure and including trailing reference signaling in a trailing time interval at the end of the timing structure. The leading reference signaling starts with a first reference signaling time-domain sequence, and the trailing reference signaling ending with the first reference time-domain signaling sequence. A technique for transmitting and receiving a sequence of symbols on a sidelink, SL, in a transmission time interval, TTI, is described. As to a method aspect of the technique, an automatic gain control, AGC, is performed for the SL based on at least one first symbol of the SL in the TTI. Based on the AGC, SL control information, SCI, encoded in at least one second symbol of the SL in the TTI is received. Data encoded in at least one third symbol of the SL in the TTI is received based on the SCI.
