According to one or more embodiments, a network node is provided. The network node includes processing circuitry configured to: determine a first resource block per symbol (RBSYM) quantity of a first portion of a frequency-time resource grid; determine a second RBSYM quantity of a second portion of the frequency-time resource grid, the second portion being associated a different Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing, OFDM, numerology than the first portion; and perform at least one action based at least in part on the first RBSYM quantity and the second RBSYM quantity.

Methods, devices and systems for determining positions of user equipments (UEs) based on uplink position signals are described. Cooperating base stations measure received positioning signals and report measurements to serving base stations. Cooperating base stations can also adapt resource allocation to mitigate interference on the uplink to positioning signals. Cooperation between base stations can be coordinated via inter-base station links, e.g., X2 interfaces in LTE systems.

Methods and systems for user equipment positioning using intercell interference coordination

A system includes a first base station of a first vendor configuration and a second base station of a second vendor configuration. A link is between the first and second base stations. The first base station is configured to receive at least one interference indicator message from the second base station, and schedule transmission of data based on the at least one interference indicator message. Scheduling the transmission of data includes determining whether to transmit the data using a current resource or to delay transmission of the data.

A wireless terminal adapted to function in a code division multiple access (CDMA) communications system is provided. The terminal includes a receiver adapted to receive frames having a slot structure in which there is a user identification channel and a shared channel, the shared channel having been transmitted using a plurality of Walsh codes, and containing content for either a plurality of voice users, a plurality of voice users and one high-rate data user, or only one high-rate data user. A slot of the shared channel contains content for a plurality of users which was transmitted in parallel using different Walsh code spaces for different users. The wireless terminal is adapted to decode the user identification channel to determine when a slot of the shared channel contains voice and/or high-rate data content for the wireless terminal.

Shared channel structure, ARQ systems and methods

A method and system adaptively reduce a peak-to-average power ratio in a communication system. Energy is clipped from at least one peak of a modulated signal. The modulated signal includes a plurality of sub-carriers. At least one data sub-carrier is adaptively selected for peak-to-average power ratio reduction use based on known scheduling information. The clipped energy is distributed among at least one data sub-carrier.

Method and system for adaptive peak to average power ratio reduction in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing communication networks

A forward link design is provided employing CDMA (code division multiple access) technologies in which time division multiplexing is employed between data and control information on the forward link to service multiple users per slot. Another forward link design employing CDMA (code division multiple access) technologies is provided in which code division multiplexing between data and control information is employed on the forward link to service multiple users per slot, which is preferably backwards compatible with legacy standards such as IS2000A. A reverse link design is also provided.

A method and apparatus for reducing the peak to average power ratio of an OFDM signal. The method involves operating on the signal only after it is converted to the time domain where the signal is compared to a power threshold and any signal above the power threshold is considered undesirable. A reduced signal is produced by reducing the magnitude to the power threshold whenever it exceeds that threshold. The delta between the original signal and reduced signal is the clipped signal. The clipped signal is multiplied by a g-function, and then subtracted from the original signal to produce a first iteration of a peak-reduced signal. The process can then be repeated using the first peak-reduced signal in place of the original signal to produce the second iteration of a peak-reduced signal. This process can be repeated each time bringing the peaks closer to the power threshold. The g-function can be defined either to allow for per-symbol cyclic signal processing or non-cyclic processing that is symbol time independent.

System and method for reducing peak-to-average power ratio in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing signals using reserved spectrum

A combined CDM/TDM (code division multiplexing/time division multiplexing) transmitter and method are provided which employ fractional slot assignment by assigning fractional CDM channel gains to multiple slots for at least one packet with a goal that a sum of fractional CDM gains assigned each packet over a scheduling period meet a required threshold. In some embodiments, the transmitter is adapted to determine which users to transmit during a given slot, and to determine fractional CDM channel gains using an optimization of fractional CDM channel gain and user assignment which maximizes a number of users each of which is assigned a respective group of one or more slots with fractional CDM channel gains which sum to the required threshold for the user.

Scheduling method and apparatus for combined code division multiplexing and time division multiplexing

A flexible frame arrangement for a CDMA wireless communications network is disclosed. A signal for transmission in the network includes several frames for transferring data between network nodes. At least one of the frames includes a hierarchical sub-frame structure having a physical layer frame and an interleaver block, a forward error control (FEC) block, and an automatic repeat request (ARQ) block. The sub-frame arrangement may be used in a spread spectrum wireless network such as CDMA2000 or W-CDMA. The FEC blocks transmit error control information and are subdivided into one or more of the ARQ blocks. Each ARQ block includes information bits and overhead bits such as cyclic redundancy code (CRC) bits and zero bits.

Flexible frame structure for a CDMA wireless network

A mobile station is disclosed that functions within a 3G DS-CDMA communication system, in which a separate active set is defined for each of the different channel types. With the use of a separate Fundamental Channel Active Set, Forward Link-Supplemental Channel Active Set, Reverse Link-Supplemental Channel Active Set, and Dedicated Control Channel Active Set a flexible handoff of a multi-service active session is possible. Each type of channel is capable of handing off separately, thereby allowing channels with different requirements, such as resource requirements or signal strength requirements, to be handed off at different times, to different basestations, and/or in different methods (ie. soft or hard handoff). The handoffs are initiated by a basestation controller by updating, within the mobile station and the applicable basestations, the particular active set corresponding to the physical channel requiring a handoff.
