Laminated film structure comprising at least one first film having a thin ceramic or metal coating, being laminated to a second film and whereby the laminated film structure is based on polyethylene only, i.e. polymers other than polyethylene are substantially absent and whereby the laminated film structure has good barrier properties.

Polyethylene based laminated film structure with barrier properties

The present invention deals with a multilayer structure comprising a first polyethylene layer as a first external layer. The first polyethylene layer is oriented in at least machine direction. The structure also comprises a second polyethylene layer as a second external layer. It further comprises a layer made of a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl alcohol (EVOH) between the first external layer and the second external layer and a tie layer on each side EVOH layer. Furthermore, the tie layers comprise one or more copolymers of ethylene.

Multilayer structure

The present invention deals with a multilayer structure comprising a first polyethylene layer as a first external layer. The first polyethylene layer is oriented in at least machine direction. The structure also comprises a second polyethylene layer as a second external layer. It further comprises a layer made of a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl alcohol (EVOH) between the first external layer and the second external layer and a tie layer on each side of the EVOH layer. Furthermore, the tie layers comprise one or more copolymers of ethylene.

A multi-layer biaxially oriented polymer film comprising a core layer (CL) and at least one sealing layer (SL), said sealing layer(s) (SL) comprise(s) a propylene copolymer composition (P) having a comonomer content in the range of 3.0 to 8.0 wt.-%, the comonomers are Cto C&#x3b1;-olefins, said propylene copolymer composition (P) comprises a polypropylene (A) and a polypropylene (B) in the weight ratio [(A)/(B)] of 20/80 to 80/20, wherein said polypropylene (A) has a comonomer content of equal or below 4.0 wt.-%, the comonomers are Cto C&#x3b1;-olefins, and said propylene copolymer (B) has a comonomer content of 4.0 to 20.0 wt.-%, the comonomers are Cto C&#x3b1;-olefins.

The present invention relates to a composition, in particular to a polypropylene composition, and articles thereof, having an optimal balance between mechanical properties and transparency and thus the composition is particular suitable for packaging applications.

Transparent polypropylene composition

A process for producing terpolymers of propylene, comprising a) feeding into a slurry reactor a reaction mixture containing 50-85 w-% of propylene, 1-10 w-% of ethylene, 15-40 w-% of another C -C alpha-olefin, a catalyst system maintaining olefin polymerization at said temperature conditions, and optionally hydrogen, b) polymerizing said reaction mixture at a temperature of lower than 70&deg; C. a sufficient time to obtain a propylene terpolymer amounting to 50-99 w-% of the end product, c) transferring said reaction mixture into a gas phase reactor operating at a pressure of higher than 5 bars, preferably higher than 10 bars, optionally adding 0-30 w-% of ethylene, 0-10 w-% of another C -C alpha-olefin, 0-40 w-% of propylene and optionally hydrogen, and d) continuing polymerization in said gas phase reactor for obtaining a propylene terpolymer amounting to 1-50 wt-% of the end product. The terpolymer has a melting temperature a less than 135&deg; C., preferably less than 132&deg; C., and it can be used for manufacturing films having good sealing properties.
