A method for equalizing temperature differences in molten glass in at least one temperature equalization zone that is in the form of a channel for transporting a glass melt. The equalization zone is located upstream from a tapping point, at which the glass is tapped into a mold in a forming machine, or the like. Resistor heating elements are provided in the temperature equalization zone side walls, bottom wall, and roof. The temperatures of the surfaces of the respective side walls, bottom wall, and roof that are in contact with the resistor heating elements are measured. The resistor heating elements are controlled by an electric controller so that the temperatures of the surfaces are substantially equal to a predetermined tapping temperature of the glass melt.

Method for equalizing temperature differences in molten glass, and equipment therefor

A method of cleansing nitrogen oxide (NO ), hydrocarbon (HC) and carbon monoxide (CO) from waste gases, such as the waste gases or exhaust gases originating from burners and internal combustion engines. The waste gases, or exhaust gases, are passed through a catalyst for catalytic cleansing of the gases. The air-fuel ratio, or the lambda value (L), is reduced to a level below L&equals;1. The gases are passed through a first catalyst and then through a second catalyst, to bring the CO-content of the gas in the first catalyst to a sufficiently high level and to reduce NO to N to an extent such as to bring the NO content down to a predetermined level. Sufficient oxygen (O ) is delivered to the gases at a point between the first and second catalysts to oxidize both CO and HC to CO and H O to such an extent as to reduce the CO-content of the gas to a predetermined level. A gas burner to carry out the method is also disclosed.

Method of purifying waste gases, and a gas burner

An electrical tubular element with an outer, metallic casing (1) surrounding a resistor element (2) of a Fe-Cr-Al alloy embedded in an insulating material (3), is given improved durability by adding to the resistor alloy Y, Hf, Sc or one or more lanthanides in an amount of 0.01-1 percent by weight.
