A contactless datalink for transmission of data between a rotatable part and a stationary part, including a dielectric waveguide split into two sections. A first dielectric waveguide section is at the rotatable part and a second dielectric waveguide section is at the stationary part. The first dielectric waveguide section is coupled to a transmitter and the second dielectric waveguide section is coupled to a receiver.

Rotary joint with dielectric waveguide

A rotary joint includes a first part and a second part configured to rotate around a rotation axis against the first part. The first part has a first magnetic core and a capacitive data link component. The second part has a second magnetic core for coupling power with the a first magnetic core and a second capacitive data link component to transfer data from and/or to the first capacitive data link component. To weaken magnetic stray fields from the magnetic core, a resonant shield is provided outside the airgap between the magnetic cores. The resonant shield comprises an open ring-shaped structure, having two open ends which are connected by a capacitor to form a resonant circuit.

An inductive power transfer circuit or inductive rotary joint has an inductive rotating coupler with a primary side and a primary winding rotatably arranged against a secondary side and a secondary winding. The secondary side is connected via a rectifier to a load. The stray inductance of the coupler together with a resonance capacitor a series resonance circuit having a series resonance frequency. An inverter in a full bridge circuit is provided for converting a DC input voltage into an AC voltage. The inverter is operable in a full bridge mode to deliver a high power level and in a half bridge mode to deliver a low power level. This results in a broad dynamic range, soft power on and improved safety, as switching between the modes may be controlled by a simple hardware.

Inductive rotary joint with multimode inverter

A contactless rotary joint has a stationary and a rotating part. Furthermore at least one of the parts has a rotary joint body made of a plastic material and holding a capacitive data link and a rotating transformer. The rotating transformer has a magnetic core for transmission of electrical power. To prevent interference of the capacitive data link by electrical and/or magnetic fields from the rotating transformer a shield is provided.

Inductive rotary joint system with stationary and rotating sides has a one-phase rectifier for receiving one-phase AC-input to generate low-level DC-voltage, and a three-phase rectifier for receiving three-phase input to generate higher-level DC-voltage. An AC-power generator receives DC-voltage and generates AC-power, which is coupled by an inductive rotary joint to a load at the rotating side. Voltage coupled to the load is comparably higher when the one-phase rectifier is connected and comparably lower when the three-phase rectified is connected. A control unit at the secondary side for controlling at least the load is connected to measure the voltage produced for the secondary side, and to distinguish between a comparatively lower voltage and a comparatively higher voltage. When a presence of a comparatively higher voltage is indicated, an x-ray tube is enabled within the load.

Contactless rotary joint with safety function

Rectangularly shaped soft magnetic cores are held within the transformer segments together with at least one winding located in the soft magnetic cores, thereby facilitating simple and efficient assembly of the rotating power transformer.

A non-contacting rotary joint for transmitting an input signal guided within an input optical waveguide has an electrical transmission line and a probe. The transmission line has an even number N&#x2267;4 of equal length transmission line segments. The optical waveguide is connected to an optical distribution network which has an optical power splitter for splitting the input signal into N or N/2 individual signals of equal optical power. These signals are forwarded to opto-electrical converters to generate electrical signals for driving the electrical transmission line. The lengths of the optical transmission lines are adjusted so that the propagation time of the optical signal from the end of the input optical waveguide to the end of each individual optical transmission line is approximately the same.

Capacitive rotary joint for optical signals

A rotating data transmission device for computer tomographs, for transmission from a rotating part to a stationary part that is rotatably supported relative to the rotating part, comprises at least one dielectric waveguide assigned to the rotating part, at least one first line coupler for coupling electrical signals into the at least one dielectric waveguide, and at least one coupler assigned to the stationary part for tapping electrical signals from the at least one dielectric waveguide. The dielectric waveguide is divided into at least two segments of approximately the same length, signals are coupled into the segments of the dielectric waveguides through a first line coupler to propagate in opposite directions, and ends of the segments distant from the line coupler are provided with terminations.

Rotating data transmission device

A method is disclosed for compensation of system tolerances in an inductive coupler which includes a power generator that feeds an alternating current into a series resonance circuit formed by a resonance capacitor and an inductive rotating transmission device. First, a brief sequence of at least one period of an alternating current is fed by the power generator into the series resonance circuit. Then the series resonance circuit is short-circuited. A first resonance frequency is measured. Then a longer sequence having a plurality of periods of an alternating-current voltage is generated by the power generator, so that a given small voltage is built up at the load. Now a second resonance frequency is measured while the resonance circuit is short-circuited. Then at least one correcting variable for the power generator is determined from the two resonance frequencies.

Method for compensation of system tolerances in inductive couplers

According to one embodiment, an optical rotary joint comprises a first collimator arrangement for coupling-on first light-waveguides, and a second collimator arrangement for coupling-on second light-waveguides, with the latter being rotatably supported relative to the first collimator arrangement about a rotation axis. A Dove prism is provided between the first and second collimator arrangements as a derotating element. The first and second collimator arrangements have at least one micro-lens array on which light-waveguides with associated ferrules are disposed. In order to avoid tensile forces from arising in the arrangement, or as a result of individual ferrules becoming interconnected by an applied adhesive, trenches, barriers, or also coatings are provided between the individual ferrules.

Disclosed is a device having a rotor that is adapted to be rotated relative to a stator, with hydrostatic bearings being used as radial bearings and as axial bearings of the rotor. A motor is provided as a direct drive, having a ring-shaped part and also a plurality of motor segments which are in magnetic engagement with the ring-shaped part. In order to generate additional bearing load force, additional motor segments having permanent magnets are provided. For reasons of safety, axial support rolls are provided which, when the motor has attained a given bearing load force, are spaced from a running face of the rotor, and which, in a case of too low or an absence of load force, prevent a displacement of the rotor away from the axial bearings.

An inductive rotary joint for computer tomographs includes an inverter and an inductive rotary coupler. A primary winding of the inductive rotary coupler is fed by the inverter via a line, with energy transmitted by the inductive rotary coupler being supplied to a load through a secondary winding. The line includes at least two coaxial lines, each coaxial line having an outer conductor or shield with the two outer conductors or shields being interconnected along a major part of their length, and an inner conductor, with the inner conductors being supplied by the inverter with voltages, the sum of which is substantially equal to zero.

Inductive rotary joint with low loss supply lines

An inductive rotary joint for non-contact transmission of electrical energy between a stationary part and a rotating part of the rotary joint comprises a power generator for generating an alternating voltage or an alternating current, which feeds a load by means of a rotatable power transmitter. An electrical parameter on the primary side of the power transmitter is determined with a measurement means, and from this, the condition of another electrical parameter at the load is approximated by means of a functional unit. Regulation of the power generator is effected with this approximated value.
