A method is applied in a positioning Electronic Shelf Label, ESL, system, wherein each ESL of a set of ESLs is being associated with a target position datum, and wherein each item positioned in a sales area is associated with an ESL. The method includes receiving checklist data indicating at least one sales area item; updating a current set of target position data; receiving a user terminal position datum; monitoring the user terminal position datum; and if a set of triggering criteria is met triggering an alert. Checklist data may be derived from a user terminal GUI, and be received in the user terminal, or be received in the ESL control unit from the user terminal or from another available system interface. Further, a system, a user terminal, an ESL, a computer program and a computer program product is provided. Embodiments enable improved increased efficiency for customers or in-store staff.

Electronic shelf label positioning method and system

Products are arranged at positions along a fixture. Electronic labels associated with the products are arranged such that a product position for a product is obtainable once a position of the label is known. A camera is arranged to capture images of the fixture. A method includes controlling a label to change optical output; receiving an image containing the label and captured after the change of optical output has been initiated; detecting a position of the label in the image based on a characteristic associated with the change; and determining a position for the product associated with the label in an image. The determined position may be employed to determine when to restock a product. Further, a method for determining positions of labels in images is provided, as well a corresponding system and computer program product. The labels are controlled to include changing temporal patterns.

Determination of a product position along a fixture or positions of objects in images

An electronic shelf label for displaying information. The electronic shelf label includes: a casing; an information display area; a printed circuit board; fastening structure for fastening the electronic shelf label on a shelf; and a recess extending from the side surface of the casing. The recess includes attaching structure for attaching external information display devices to the electronic shelf label. An information display device for use in combination with the electronic shelf label is further provided.

An ESL and ESL holder combination includes a locking mechanism for releasably securing the ESL to the ESL holder and an ESL provided with at least one gripping means for cooperative engagement with the ESL holder. A protruding, spring loaded locking element is arranged on the ESL for cooperative engagement with the shelf edge rail. The ESL holder is attachable to the edge of a shelf, the ESL holder being provided with one or more receiving means such as slots for receiving the gripping means and the locking element in cooperative engagement. The spring loaded locking element arranged adjacent to the gripping means and positioned on the ESL such that the spring loaded locking element cannot enter the receiving means on the ESL holder during insertion of the gripping means into the receiving means, and such that it enters the receiving means by spring action when the gripping means is brought into a hooked position, in the receiving means. The spring loaded locking element prevents removal of the ESL from the ESL holder, unless the spring loaded locking element is retracted from its receiving means, and allows for the gripping means to leave its hooked position.

ESL locking mechanism

An ESL and ESL holder combination includes a locking mechanism for releasably securing the ESL to the ESL holder, and an ESL provided with at least one gripping means for cooperative engagement with the ESL holder. The ESL holder is attachable to an edge of a shelf, the ESL holder being provided with one or more receiving means such as for example slots for receiving the gripping means and the locking element in cooperative engagement. A spring loaded element is arranged inside the ESL such that the spring loaded element, in a latched position, secures the ESL to the ESL holder when the gripping means is brought into a hooked position in the receiving means. When displaced from its latched position, allowing the gripping means to leave its hooked position, this enables removal of the ESL from the ESL holder.
