A hybrid gas generator for use in an occupant restraint system for vehicles comprises a pressure chamber (), a combustion chamber () delimited by a combustion chamber wall () and containing a pyrotechnic charge (), and a passage element () arranged between the pyrotechnic charge and the pressure chamber. For a form-fitting securing of the passage element () on the combustion chamber wall (), the passage element () and the combustion chamber wall () have at least in part a conical shape. On the side facing the pyrotechnic charge (), the passage element () has a collar () which acts as a spacer between the passage element () and the pyrotechnic charge ().

Hybrid gas generator

A transport assembly comprises a gas generator having an outer housing which has at least one outflow opening arranged such that a thrust force is exerted onto the outer housing during an outflow of generated gas. The transport assembly further comprises a removable transport cover which is detachably fastened to the outer housing and extends around the outflow opening of the outer housing. Further outflow openings are arranged in the transport cover such that the transport assembly as a whole remains neutral with respect to thrust on activation of the gas generator. A plug connection is provided between the transport cover and the outer housing.

Transport assembly

A hybrid gas generator comprises an elongated cylindrical outer housing, and a pressure chamber that is filled with pressurized gas and that is closed off by a membrane provided on an end face of the pressure chamber. The gas generator further comprises a pyrotechnical propellant charge that is provided for opening the membrane and is accommodated in a preferably bushing-shaped propellant charge housing. The propellant charge housing is connected to the outer housing at a location outside of the pressure chamber and a longitudinal axis of the propellant charge housing extends at a right angle to a longitudinal axis of the outer housing. The generator also has an axial outflow opening situated at one axial end of the outer housing. The outer housing has a circumferential wall with a radial insertion opening for introducing the propellant charge housing. The propellant charge housing is attached to a section of the circumferential wall diametrically opposite the insertion opening in such a way that the propellant charge housing is secured at least against a movement in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the outer housing.
