A computer-implemented method of generating an overlay of medical video data and overlay data is presented. The method comprising the steps acquiring, from a medical video modality, the medical video data comprising at least a first video frame and a second video frame of different points in time, tand t, (step S), analysing the acquired medical video data comprising a comparison of the video data captured by the first and the second video frames (step S); providing initial overlay data (step S), generating modified overlay data by adapting the initial overlay data based on a result of the analysis of the medical video data (step S), and generating the overlay by generating a video output comprising at least medical video data originating from the medical video modality and comprising the generated modified overlay data (step S). In a particular embodiment, the determined change over time in the first and second video frames is a spatial shift of an object imaged in the video frames.

A cranium bracing system includes a strut mount adapter and a bracing strut, wherein the strut mount adapter is adapted to connect the bracing strut to a cranium hole base member which is rigidly connected to a patient's cranium. The strut mount adapter includes a first connecting section with one or more engaging members configured to engage with the correspondingly formed cranium hole base member to fixedly connect the strut mount adapter to the cranium hole base member. The strut mount adapter further includes a second connecting section configured to engage with a correspondingly formed connecting section of the bracing strut to connect the strut mount adapter to the bracing strut, and a passage extending through the strut mount adapter and having a first passage opening at the first connecting section and an opposed second passage opening.

The disclosed method encompasses registering an augmented reality device such as augmented reality glasses with a tracking coordinate system associated with a position tracking system. This may be effected by different approaches, for example by using a distance measurement unit (depth sensor) of the augmented reality device to determine a position of the augmented reality device relative to an object in a medical environment such as in surgery or radiotherapy/radiosurgery. The object may additionally be tracked by the position tracking system so that on the basis of the distance measurement, a relative position between the augmented reality device and the tracking coordinate system can be determined in order to register the augmented reality device with the position tracking system. This registration allows displaying augmentation information in a desired context and/or at a desired location in the image of the medical environment captured by the augmented reality device.

Medical augmented reality navigation

A method for automatic detection of a medical instrument orientation for robotic surgery is presented. The method determines the orientation of a marker device attached to the medical instrument in relation to the robotic system by comparing movement information. The method compares the information about a movement of the marker device from a tracking system with the information about a movement of the robotic arm, which movement data can be acquired by the robotic system. The orientation of the medical instrument with respect to the robotic system can be determined automatically and used for subsequent calculations such as an automatic and efficient precise alignment to a target trajectory or a correct positioning assistance for a mechatronic arm. A computer-implemented medical method of automatically determining an orientation of a medical instrument base in relation to a robotic system is provided.

Method for automatic detection of instrument orientation for robotic surgery

A computer-implemented medical data processing method for controlling a geometric status of a mechatronic articulable arm. Current geometric status data is acquired describing a current geometric status of the mechatronic articulable arm defined by a set of current spatial relationship between connected elements of the mechatronic articulable arm. Changed geometric status data describing a changed geometric status of the mechatronic articulable arm defined by a set of changed spatial relationship between the connected elements is determined based on current device position data, the current geometric status data, changed device position data, and device definition data. Instruction data describing an instruction for changing the geometric status of the mechatronic articulable arm from the current geometric status to the changed geometric status is determined. The instruction describes changes from the current spatial relationship to the changed spatial relationship.

Efficient positioning of a mechatronic arm

The disclosed method encompasses using an augmented reality device to blend in augmentation information including for example atlas information. The atlas information may be display separately from or in addition to a patient image (planning image). In order to display the atlas information in a proper position relative to the patient image, the two data sets are registered to one another. This registration can serve for generating a diversity of atlas-based image supplements, for example alternatively or additionally to the foregoing for displaying a segmentation of the patient image in the augmented reality image. The disclosed method is usable in a medical environment such as for surgery or radiotherapy.

The disclosed method encompasses pre-registering an anatomical body part with a coordinate system used by an augmented reality device (such as augmented reality glasses) for outputting (e.g. displaying or projecting) augmentation information. An example of the augmentation information is the position (in the real image captured by the augmented reality device) of a fine registration area on the anatomical body part which a user is supposed to identify for fine registration of the anatomical body part with a tracking coordinate system used by a medical position tracking system. The disclosed method is usable in a medical environment such as for surgery or radiotherapy.
